650 xt storage.
« on: March 05, 2019, 09:44:06 »
Good morning folks. I'm after a bit of info on the V Strom 650 xt. On all reviews I've read not one has mentioned if it has any under seat storage to hold a chain or U lock etc. Can anyone tell me if the seat is removable and if there is room for a security device?
Many thanks, Nick.

The seat will be removable using a key but I'm guessing the under seat storage should be similar to my 1000, most of it will be taken up by a filter for fuel emissions.

Possibly enough space for a disc lock but definitely not a D-lock.

I was a bit miffed when I got my 650 there was not enough room for a puncture repair spray can, every other bike I have owned has had room for this, I had to cable tie it to the pannier frame as I do not want to have the panniers on unless I am going on a trip

Thanks fellas, pretty much as I suspected. It's a pity that to carry anything of any size you need to fix the top box in place.

I have to challenge the storage 'quality' under the 650 seat. Under my L5 I have a small tyre repair spray can, a chain lube spray and a bulb kit. Plus cable ties, multi function 'tool', two small padlocks for my luggage racks and other sundry items AND the bike's standard tool kit.  :icon_wink:

I appreciate you can't get a solid 'D' lock there or even a decent chain though......
So how's it going so far then?
