Depends what bike you were riding before.
If it was a inline 3 or four particularly short stroke engines. They tend to not use much oil. V-twins will use a fair bit of oil by comparison.
If it uses less than 100ml per 1000 miles it's acceptable. High for a new bike but acceptable.
The varadero I have has always used about 100-120ml of oil per 1000 miles and is accepted as perfectly normal for a twin with big valves and long stroke.
I suppose the only other thing I could think of with the oil use would be how are you measuring the oil level?
The engine should be run for a few minutes, stopped and left to stand for few minutes then held upright (not on centre stand)
Failing to follow this procedure could lead to a false low reading.
The excess oil will usually end up in the air box and soak into a filter or be aspirated by the engine. Thus dropping the oil level you are reading.

Yes all 18 onwards year models of both the 650 and 1000cc bikes have the easy start system.
As pointless as it is, but goes down well in this nanny state that has grown so weak and feeble that there is a need to save the younger generation from the unbearable pain of holding a small button in for 1-2 seconds.
