I remember most of the above in my youth but did you gents own a sheath knife & a catapult (we called them dobbers!!) most of us had an air rifle. Nobody got stabbed or shot.....well not deliberately!
We would carry these most days when down 'the woods' sometimes shooting at live targets (animals & birds ) but mostly at tin cans or hand made paper targets.
The knives were regularly used to play splits, if you don't know what it is, you stand opposite your partner and thrown the knife as close to his foot, left or right, as possible then he had to move his foot to that spot, the last one to fall because his legs were too wide was the winner...........that was when someone would get stabbed, but not deliberately , and not too badly so long as you were wearing shoes!!!

And when down the woods make a small fire and cook some spuds.
AND if we got injured we'd have to make up some fantastic story about how it happened and never tell "them" the truth. e.g. when three of us fell through the roof of a derelict house and two of us got broken arms and told our parents we jumped off a shed playing 'parachute soldiers'.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

Most likely would, my dad thought it was a superb thing to do, after a time.
