Overseas Insurance
« on: December 02, 2018, 02:40:58 »
If like me you want to travel the world on your V Strom ( I am currently doing it), you will need to insure it. I made the mistake of paying insurance in the U.K. for the 3 months I expected to be in North America/Canada. It cost me £900+
I had to extend it while I was in the US and it cost me £30 a month!
The thing is they need a US address to mail paperwork to, so discuss this with a friendly shop or hotel you intend to use. Buying local in New Zealnd and Australia cost about the same.

Sounds pretty steep but when it comes to insurance, I've always feel that I get robbed.

I'm waiting for the day where I can simply insure myself on one policy without all the faffing about.  I'll pay for the bike considered the highest risk and then use the others as I wish.

I'll not hold my breath though.  :dl_soapbox:

Good point Munchen, after all you can only ride one at a time (though I suppose some git might nick all of them in one go)

Well that's true, so for fully comp it makes sense to have individual polices.

Mine aren't worth much so I choose to take the minimum cover and I think it's only fair that I pay for the riskiest one.
