Wee has been bought
« on: November 24, 2018, 12:39:26 »
I intended to update my introduction but the Stasi have locked it.  Starting to wonder whether I've joined the right forum here.

Anyway, until I find somewhere with a more relaxed forum admin, I'd just like to share that I bought a wee this morning so am feeling rather pleased with myself now :)

Although it's only got 5000km on the clock, it's really dusty/dirty.  Bothers me not though, I love cleaning my own cars and bikes.

Now to eBay for a filters, plugs, oil and stuff....

I'm the Stasi that locked it. We are very clear on here that an Intro is an Intro, not an ongoing story of what you do to the bike and where you went on it.

So, stick with that, publish your future posts exactly where you have today and all will be great. If not feel free to go visit some other subscription based site smothered in adverts.

Now some people would like to see some pictures, so how about sharing some?

Damn! Old eyes can't read that... The belly pan looks like the one on my old Vee.

Yep, it's a 650.  Looks much better in the photo that it does up close but I'm fairly happy with it.  I'll pick it up on Monday night after it gets a new MOT (TÜV).

The wee feels so much more manageable than my Tiger already.  I can pretty much get it on the centre stand with one hand, whereas I need to use my whole body weight to get the Tiger on and off of it.

Looks a nice bike, what year is it.  Use it and enjoy it.
Best thing I ever done to get rid of my BMW F700GS and buy my 2016 DL650.

It's a 2010 model with around 3000 miles on the clock.  I found out today that the former owner passed away and his widow simply gave it the local garage to sell.

That looks a beaut!  Yeah, Brockett I had to look three times, it's wearing a Vee belly-pan for sure. Unless the 2010 650s all had them?

Hi Gang

A bit of help required please because I paid for the bike tonight and then after looking at the papers, it looks like the bike is a lot older than a 2010 model.  It tells me that it's a type WVB1 which seems to mean it's a model built between 2004-2006.  I thought these bikes had a "K" number to denote model year?

Dates on the papers also indicate that they were issued in March 2006 although the date of first registration was in March 2010.  As far as I understand that, the bike sat around for 4 years before being sold.

I'm a bit disappointed now because I think I've overpaid.  Seller has asked me to call him tomorrow but I can't really blame him can I?  First reg was 2010 although I still feel as though I've been mislead.

I have 14-days to get my money back and right now I'm thinking of doing it.

Was you informed of this before you handed over your money ?
I'm not sure of the legalities but I'm pretty sure the dealer should have told you it's an older model ..?

No, I wasn't informed.  I only saw the first reg. date was in 2010 but I was unaware of the build date.  He's probably not done anything wrong but I cannot help but feel a bit cheated.

If you like the bike then I'm sure bartering for some of your cash back might cure your thoughts
