Joint car & bike recovery
« on: November 06, 2018, 17:40:31 »
Would anyone know of a good joint car & bike recovery  company that allows more than one person to be named on the policy?
I need both, but my wife needs to be covered in the car also and all I can seem to find is a personal policy rather than naming both vehicles.
Thanks.

The AA insure the person rather than the vehicle. I think the RAC might too.

I have a family policy with the AA, me Wife and Daughter.

Thanks FatRat. Does that include more than one vehicle?

AA cover everyone on the policy in anything they're driving at the time: you don't define any vehicles. Not the cheapest, but never had a problem with any breakdowns I've suffered regardless of the mode of transport.

Yep RAC is the same. Me and my wife are covered in anything we happen to be in. I’m also covered on my bike too. (Or I was when I last asked about 2 years ago)

Get a joint Auto Aid policy. Covers you, your other half, for cars, bikes, planes (OK, maybe not planes).

Try this https://www.autoaidbreakdown.co.uk/ they do a joint policy that would cover you and your wife no matter whether your in a car or on a bike.

Some (maybe all) of these companies won't cover cars over a certain age. With Green Flag I think this was 16 or 17 years old???

Thank you to everyone. Have given the AutoAid policy a good look over and seems to fit the bill, so now covered from Friday.

Autoaid is great; the only possible gotcha which people sometimes overlook is that you have to be legally wedded or civil-partnered to your other half; simply being shacked up together for 10 years with a couple of kids doesn't cut it...

I’m happily 32 years into a life sentence so will be OK. I can see they have probably had complaints about people being misled as that point was a bold type section on the docs whilst applying.

I'm curious to know what checks the spanner monkey carries out at the roadside to determine the legality of your spousal setup? I can just imagine the conversation: "yes, I can fix the problem in a few minutes, but I'll have to wait for the Auchenshoogle Registrars to open on Tuesday to verify your relationship..."
