Where do the front brake lines go?
« on: October 06, 2018, 17:19:44 »
I have a 2007 V-Strom 650. I have changed the front brake fluid today. But I'm a bit confused about where the brake lines go..

Looking in the K9 service manual it looks really simple. From the master cylinder a brake line goes down to a two way split, which then leads to both brake calipers.

But on my motorcycle, the line from the master cylinder leads to some kind of cylinder, from where two lines go backwards and disappear under the tank. I'm tempted to remove the tank to see where they lead, but haven't done so yet.

From this cylinder, there is also a line leading down to the split and both front calipers.

What can this be? Is this standard on the K7? Any ideas?

Does this mean I need to do anything special to bleed the system completely?

Have you got ABS brakes? That would seem to explain it.

Even with ABS,just bleed as normal,it will work fine.

Yes I have ABS. Never thought about that! That explains it. Thanks!

Great! I'll do the back brake tomorrow!
