I had a call yesterday from my mate Stevie Weavy, we used to work for the same company (he's another tanker w*nker) and we finally had a day available for a bimble. An early start meant we we eating cake and drinking coffee in Pately Bridge by 9am. Anyhoo we set off again in earnest, I was in front when I noticed that Weavy had vanished.
We had to jump start his Veek at the meet up point as his battery had gone flat due to lack of use, it started fine after caaake so I assumed this was the reason for his absence. I turned round and caught up with him heading back down the hill into Pately with his hazards on, he pulled into a field gateway and I noticed he had a bright red face.
"What's up"? I shouted.
"Centre stand"
"Centre stand?" says me.
Apparently the centre had detached itself, digging into the ground, lifting the 'bike and Stevie as he made progress going round a corner. It hit his foot, then the hugger and finally the nearside rear indicator. We eventually found it in a hedge bottom on the outside of the bend.
Initially it looks like the threads have let go where the stand is bolted to the brackets near the footpeg bracket. The centre stand was put into his top box.
Drama over we set off again, Buckden, then over the top to Gayle then to Hawes for a cheese factory visit (2 laps of the tasting room) followed by fish and chips. Buttertubs to Masham for the inevitable rum & raisen ice cream and more coffee.
Nothing fell off the Thunderbastard, I seem to have cured the right hand numbing. I didn't much care for the grip puppies so they were discarded, following advice from the great sage on here (Wurzel) I bought a bag of lead shot (scuba divers weight bag) mixed half a kilo with some silicon and filled the rhs of the bars. The extra weight coupled with some exercisers for carpol tunnel syndrome resulted in a lack of numbness.
