I love the old XRV750, the newer CRF1000 are good but too many faults with them for my likeing... I worked in a dealer and there are too many to list.
And the 15-16 year bikes were tall enough that I nearly need to reach for the floor (34" inside leg, so no short arse here)
The '18 model squish my nads everytime I had to get on one with the standard seat in standard position.
KTM - OK their quality control has come a long way in the last few year so I may be tempted.
In 18 months or so I going to be looking to maybe replace the Varadero and the 1050/90 may be an option (if mileage stays this low it will stay longer)
Or the Tiger 800 but I'm not sure if I could give up the big twin and ride a 3 cylinder (My OCD doesn't like odd numbers either)
Same power as the Varadero with 20kg weight saving.
It's all about needs and wants...
I WANT a bike with 100+ HP
I NEED it lighter than 240kg dry (Varadero)
Looks like I won't be getting much more than 100HP then.
You need:
A bike capable of being loaded with all the camping gear for two (including kitchen sink) and still have the power to have a little fun.
Also reliability.
You want:
200HP in an adv bike.
You buy:
A DL1000/S10 and a Motolug trailer
Josh... take out the new DL1000, yes it's beakey, yes it's plastic fantastic... but has a stonking engine. Propper old school grunt beats revvy red line hunters everyday if you're counting fun factor.
(Yes I have been riding Jen's bike this week and it always puts a smile on my face
)
Test ride, test ride, test ride.
