V-strom stalling
« on: September 06, 2018, 20:54:54 »
Hi my 2007 DL1000 has started to stall this happens during a run of more than 20 miles or so of constant speeds, when I change down and come to a stop at traffic lights etc the bike stalls and there is a strong smell of petrol, it doesn't happen at all on the back roads etc with some spirited riding up and down the gearbox any ideas please

Difficult to diagnose as there are many things that can cause this.
My first question would be does it start straight up after or do you have difficulty ?

Unless it's gone wrong ? You could try disconnect it a see how it goes but a fuel related issue does sound likely .

When I had mine with a TRE, it didn't fail as such but after about 12 months of having it fitted when I put the bike on the side stand with the engine running the FI light would come on, restart and it would go off. Every now and then the bike would cut out when rolling off the throttle at lights and junctions etc, thought nothing of that after all its a big twin with glitchy fuelling low down.
I removed the TRE to rule out the causes and the FI light and cutting out never happened again. Bought a new TRE a few months later, all good.

Check idle speed and if throttle bodies didn't pop off (the rubber part). Those are the most common issues which can cause such a problem.

:text-goodpost:  Tb's and vacuum pipes. Maybe TB's out of balance anyway?

In my opinion, it is very unlikely that TRE cause that. I have TRE as well and the problem was vacuum leak. I had the same issue some time ago.
