V Strom 1000 2017 rear axle nut socket size?
« on: May 08, 2018, 18:41:46 »
My chain isn't quite ready for adjustment yet, but in anticipation I want to get the correct sized socket for the rear axle nut. I can't see the socket size stated in the manual: some of the forums mention 36mm but I wanted to be sure before I buy one. Can anyone confirm what size socket I need please?

My old dl was a 24mm but not sure about the later models. Can't see why Suzuki would go up to a 36mm .. ? So .. it's either a 24mm or a 36mm
. 50% chance  of being correct .. ????

My 2016 is 36mm. I know that for certain as I changed the rear tyre at the weekend.

I can confirm that the size you need is 36mm, in case you you require torque values check out this topic, Greywolf explains how much torque to use and why the book values should be ignored for the rear axle and sprocket nuts.

Thanks for the help everyone, and appreciate the heads-up on the torque values too.
