OK, it's good old v-strom.co.uk democracy time, with a Poll added that won't be rigged or altered in any way and will close on January 1st.

Which ever name comes out top will be considered by Mr Rat and then he will discard that and impose his own name.

I thought maybe "I've" as it's an Inazuma engine and it might grow on us, but then it's not a V engine.
So then I though "I-Strom", "P-Strom" and lastly "Zuma" as it sounds friendly and not childish or condescending.
But then again it doesn't matter what I say as everyone will think I have TB (Talking B**locks).

Hi
Would it not be easier for anyone joining the group if the bikes were described as per Suzuki nomenclature? It would save all the pointless time cross referencing to understand which model is being discussed. With 3 bikes of different capacities, several age related modifications and equipment differences it would be sensible. A successful bike like the vstrom will, hopefully, have many more changes over the coming years that will attract many more people to this site. Make them welcome and not alienate them with indeciferable names.

But what fun would that be? And believe me, when answering many questions every day, typing 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650 instead of Wee gets old in a hurry. Also, I have a key to my shortcuts in my sig so no referencing is needed.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

+1 - We tried it once. We set the word filter to replace the slang names with something like "K4 - L1, 2004-2011, DL650" and it ruined the flow of almost every sentence.

@Greywolf
I think you kind of make my argument for me. If you need a handy guide, what chance for a newby?

Newbies need to learn things by definition. I prefer to assume some level of knowledge that I sometimes need to expand upon if needed but I'm not willing to explain every possible point of difficulty on every post. I don't have to post "read my sig" very often but occasionally need to say, "See http://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,11834.0.html "

The trouble with "WeeWee" and "MiniWee" is that Suzuki might well produce a 125 or 50 cc version yet.

Learning the various names makes it instantaneously certain which model we are on about without having to refer to models by year. OK I could refer to mine as a K8 but that's boring.

Is that a K8 1000 or a K8 650 ?

I had trouble understanding what "indeciferable" means, so I looked it up an I think it's code for indecipherable. :grin:

Sorry, happy Xmas, oh sorry I mean Happy Christmas L17. :icon_wink:
