Name the new model
« on: December 21, 2017, 18:58:57 »
We all got excited to name the Glee and then the mass-debate (snigger) about what we should call the 2014 DL1000.

Now have I missed it or did we forget to name the new for 2017 bikes?

I'm opting for Veek2 for the new 1000.
And Gleek2 for the 650 as the Glee XT was the original Gleek (glee with a beak)

Sure the name for the 250 has been discussed already, I thought it was going to be known as the Wee Wee.

The 250 is a parallel twin. In the tradition of naming a V-Strom partly from the V engine design, the 250 shouldn't be a V-Strom at all. That being said, a proper nickname would be P-Wee. Pee-Wee is too long.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Yeah I completely forgot the DL250... and I have to walk past one every time I go for a pee in work.  :shy:

I will admit they aren't the prettiest bike out there.
In fact they are in my top five ugly bikes list, slightly ahead of the Transalp 700... and just like the Transalp the bike could have been I nice looking bike then they added the headlight and turned them both into munters.  :-x

I typed "small" into an online thesaurus and it came up with "Bantam" but I think that one has been done
It also came up with "Trifling"

Tri-fling would apply to a three cylinder bike.

A BSA Bantam was my first ever bike (he says, muttering to himself like a loon).

I thought we decided on 'Pee' for the P-Wee?

Anyway we can't call it the PeeWee given what he was caught doing...

Should be a P-Wee
...or to give it it's full name it's a Para-Wee,

But we'll never need to give it a name as no-one will buy one let alone come here and admit to it.

To quote GW, "The 250 is a parallel twin. In the tradition of naming a V-Strom partly from the V engine design, the 250 shouldn't be a V-Strom at all."
Thus the 250 does not deserve any naming related to the Wee / Gllee / Vee. Since the 250 is a parallel twin, I suggest call it what it is... a PT.  :stirpot:
