Timmo, the ECU is a simple unplug one, plug in another, however they do have to reprogram keys to match the new ECU, still shouldn't take longer than an hour though.

they want to spend a day test riding it, testing the TPS and all sorts first.. what a waste of time, just install the new ECU, program the key and give me my bike back lol.

They wanted the throttle body's balanced on mine first but after that the mechanic said it was still trying to stall and holding back in second gear so they give the OK for the new ecu.
Suited me fine as there was 7000 miles on it and throttle balance is one of the service items at 7500 miles. So changed oil and filter myself and saved a fortune!

Strange thing to write!
I don't regret not buying any of the thousand bikes I haven't bought   :lala:

Funny as  :dl_hyperhysteria:

Well at least they are getting these sorted now finally, I think the new 1000 looks a lot better than the Veek, there always seems to be issues with new models of any breed.

I have had a Wee and Vee and a Glee and I went to Suzuki HQ in Milton Keynes for a presentation of the, then, new DL1000. They said it had undergone many hours /Kilometres of testing. Apart from looking almost unlike a V Strom, with its single light and purposeless beak, I was prepared to test ride one with a view to a purchase. It was an OK ride, comfy  and everything worked, but, as a solo rider, it didn't do anything the Glee didn't and it was priced to what the market would bear and that was, for me, little too high. It's not the money as I paid a lot more for Z1000 SX I finally bought. It was not long after the first few were sold that the ECU problem began to be reported. Slow speed stalls with bike a rider on the floor may not have been common but they were happening. Over the following months and years more and more reports of inadequate fuelling surfaced. Some bikes were worse than others and some were not affected at all. The bike is in it's fourth year and Suzuki are now getting to grips with the problem. Really!  Shameful. That is why I am not sorry to have not bought one.  Oh! yes another thing: is the clutch basket any less liable than the Vee to develop "chudder". Or was that just an ugly rumour.

Suzuki's recall notice is quite straight forward:

Has the ECU got a part number in given range?
Yes - order replacement ECU
No, It has non-recalled ECU - Give owner the keys back.

Service " Reg please Mr T'

Information supplied by me then
'We need it in to check it and replace ECU if needed'
I said. ' You did this on the 20 June 2016, I was the first in Bristol, I already have the new ECU supplied by Suzuki to you. Thank you, its been done at great expense to someone '
Service. 'Oh yes, I can see that now.  We still need it in to check'

Glad I logged on tonight (quiet nightshift), collecting my new bike 2015 Veek Wednesday and just read about the ECU problem, bikes from a Yamaha dealer not a Suzuki dealer, best I send him an email tonight to see if the ECU has been changed, guess he can keep hold of the bike till it has been!

I suggest a nice initial ride via Carrbridge to Aviemore for a coffee then back via Boat of Garten and Speybridge .
You'll be home for an early lunch.
And you mustn't forget the undertank wiring - you blokes in Britain seem prone to the corrosion because of your conditions.  Out here no such issues but I still got it done just the same.
Great bike btw - I've enjoyed mine for 45,000kms without a hitch, just doing little personalisation mods when it seems right

Bob,

Was that you on your new Strom 1K I saw yesterday afternoon, out near Mulben?

Seemed strange seeing another 1k Strom on the road up here, especially in the salty months. Mines having a quiet winter whilst my BM F8GS puts in the miles - Grantown, Tomintoul-Lecht-Dufftown-home yesterday . . . .
