What luggage rack do I have?

Hi, I have just brought a K6 650 V-Strom, I noticed that my luggage rack/grab rail is a different shape from most of the others I have seen of the same year, my bike has a Suzuki top box, is this an aftermarket or option part? its made of steel & rusty, I was going to strip it & paint it black but looking on ebay I can buy an original black one(with the curved grab rails) for around £40.

If you open the lid you should find "Soft" stamped somewhere in the inside.

It was made for Suzuki and came as part of an options pack.
On a K6 you may find your log book says DL650 T... the T stands for touring. (Came with different rack, topbox for the rack, hand guard, heated grips and engine bars)

If not the bike was added to after first purchase from the Suzuki parts lists.

Thanks, your right it does say "T" on the V5, although I don't have engine bars so they must of been removed at some point, think I will buy a used alloy black one off ebay.

Only Soft branded Suzuki luggage will fit directly onto the rack.
Other Suzuki stuff won't fit!

The box in your picture is the only box that will fit your rack.
