Air filter seal.
« on: August 05, 2017, 17:13:01 »
Hello every one, I finally got time to service my bike to day and to my surprise, when I went to replace the air filter it had a k&n in. Now I bought a genuine filter but I can't fit it as I have no seal for it. Does anybody know where to get that seal from other than a dealer? Had a quick look online but can't seem to find it.
My other option is to buy the cleaning kit and keep the k&n?

When you say "seal" , do you mean the rubber edging around the genuine filter ? It's should come with it .

The new stock filters have supplied with edge seals included since 2007.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.

I not sure what it is but my gen filter don't come with it. Forgot to mention I have a k5 so it the older model. Think the newer models have it all built in but not sure.  Have I got a faulty filter then?

Thanks I've pm'd you.  I managed to find it on a parts website but there is no stock of them so don't think they are unavailable.

It doesn't matter what year the bike is. Filters manufactured since 2007 for any year Vee, Wee or Glee all fit and have an edge seal. You would have to have become some very old stock to get a filter without it.

It's either an old one or somebody forgot to put one on at the factory.

Is the K&N filter one that can be cleaned and re-used?

Ian's profile puts him in East Yorkshire....... and the Midlands.
Maybe he's got a motorbicycle?

He got a Urinal outfit, that do?

Moved from Midlands can't alter profile, so now I live where it always a bank Holliday and the sun always shines

Does that mean you get dragged to the garden centre and B&Q every day?

And yes the Ural definitely counts.
