Brake caliper problem
« on: May 28, 2017, 20:31:55 »
Hello blokes and gals got an issue with a rear brake caliper on my DL650 L4 and wonder if any one has a suggestion. Basically noticed that the rear pads were worn down after 10000 miles from new (not sure if this is good or bad for OE parts but do carry a passenger or pillon rider as the boss likes to be called). Easy job methinks as I have done it before on previous bikes but I did not factor in for stuck pin. It would not screw out or tap out. Took out both bolts now holding caliper and liberally drowned pin in penetration oil and obviously ruined existing pads but they do need replacing if I can get the darned  pin out.

Advice anybody??????

It's easier to undo the pin with the caliper bolted to the bike.
Don't try to tap it out, if it won't budge you could try applying some heat onto the threaded area - obviously you need to be careful with your aim...
