Maybe an autocorrect thing that doesn't get "proof read"? ( And if old folks get confused by the difference, this is known as duffering. )

What helmet do you use?
I once had a Caberg flip lid and it was the most awful thing ever - really comfy and all that but at anything over 60mph the noise was deafening. I switched to a Shoei helmet and all my problems vanished.

You could be right regarding the helmet. I am going to throw some money at this problem, I do only have a cheap helmet and intend to replace it, also new airflow wind shield and Aprilia mirrors. Hope this lot will at least reduce the problems. Really like the bike.
Members may be interested to know that my main Suzuki dealer in Norwich has informed me that Givi has discontinued the airflow Windscreen  for my DL650, having to buy on eBay from Germany unless anyone knows anywhere else. :ty: :lala:

I'm 6'3" and standard screen on madstad bracket solved my buffeting problems, up to 80mph, didn't go any faster yet.
HJC IS-17 is affordable quiet and safe(5 sharp stars) lid. can get them for £85 on ebay.

Remove screen, do not replace.  Solved the problem for me, and it feels like I'm riding quite fast at sane speeds.  Just couldn't get used to a screen.  Found it made me 30 odd mph faster everywhere.

Could just be me here....

Not just you. I have a tall screen fitted and sometimes I don't realise how fast I'm going.

Me too. Since I completed Givi Airflow with side wind flaps (DL1000 '14), my speed is completely out of control.
I remember, 2 years ago after I've finished my setup, bike started to go a bit out of control in some corners on the road I use every day to go to work. First I couldn't find out what was wrong with the bike. Took me few days to understand that my speed increased a lot in those corners.
Even now, two years later I sometimes think: "Why the hell everyone is driving so slow today...?"

I have the new 650 (just two weeks now!) and I haven't noticed anything extreme. I'm 183cm and I have the screen on its highest setting. Maybe the wind-tunnel testing fixed the issue... :smirk:

I had the airflow screen fitted on my DL650 for a few rides but decided to go back to the touring screen.  Riding with the airflow was way too hot for me due to the lack of cool air around the chest and head area.

Hi just joined, re: your buffering. got mine 2 weeks ago, when I took it for a test run I never noticed buffering but since using have. Most screens have a vent at the bottom to allow air inside to reduce turbulence.  I noticed the vent was small so I went to B&Q and bought a pack of flexi pipe strengtheners, they're about an inch long and hollow and a pack of m6 x 40mm coach bolts. I fitted them with plastic washers around the screen and this seems to have helped a lot. I have the standard screen and a low seat, I put the screen in the middle position to test and as I say much improved. I`m 5`10". cost £7 so was worth a try before trying various screen options.
hope this helps

This is a link from another V-Strom site that may help address some of your questions on the installation of the Givi Airflow: http://www.stromtrooper.com/maintenance-tech-products/206130-installing-givi-airflow-screen-2012-dl650a.html. There are a few pix as well. I take it that you have looked on the Givi website http://www.givi.ca/en/pb_airflow.php?brand=5&model=85&year=2012 or http://www.givi.ca/en/instructions_vue.php?id=10
