Buffering
« on: May 04, 2017, 20:37:33 »
Love my DL650, on ride out I can keep up with all the big boys, wait outside the petrol station while they all fill up with petrol, got all the extras, but don't know how much longer I can put up with the ears ringing, now going to remove the mirrors and ride 20 miles without them.

Removed the original Suzuki screen and fitted a Suzuki touring screen with the adjustable airflow. No noticeable difference.

The Givi Airflow is definitely worth a try, if it doesn't work for you then sell it on.

See if you can blag a ride on a glee with a Givi Airflow fitted. Stick a location in your profile and nearby strommers may be able to oblige.

What year is your bike, K4-L1 or L2-L6? If you aren't using ear plugs as should be used on any bike, the ringing can become permanent.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

I had to use a combination of... standard screen, with Givi airflow adjustable top section (bike came with that), mounted on a Madstad adjustable bracket (I added that).
All these acting together gives me blast & buffet free riding.
Before that the helmet hammer was horrendous.

I will check out the givi airflow, does anyone know if Suzuki have addressed this problem with the newest model?

It isn't really a problem as such, it affects some riders and not others. It can depend on the rider height, lid etc.

Well I don't really want to sell it on, prepared to spend a bit of cash to try and improve the problem. Thanks all :ty:

I think FR meant sell the screen on if it doesn't work for you, not the bike. There's usually a healthy appetite for a bargain Airflow on here.

Never had a bike that doesn't have a ringing in the ears. DL650 L5 with a Givi airflow is OK. Up till 90mph anyway, after that gets boring after 5 mins

Probably not. Try without first. If you do, you'll need a screen for an older wee to fit. Expensive minefield.

Givi airflow is a complete, model specific screen. Remove original and replace with Airflow. Some new rubber "well nuts" may be needed if originals damaged or you lose them in the removal process.  Not a pest, it's what the forums (fora?) are for.

Yeah,but No.but Yeah but etc.
No offence and all that but .... Just for the sake of common understanding of the problem:-
I think the problem is Buffeting ..... but so many people refer to "Buffering"
Buffering is almost the opposite of Buffeting     :stirpot:
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.
