Givi trekker pannier size
« on: April 02, 2017, 08:44:28 »
So I've finally scraped the money together for some luggage. Looking at the Givi TRK panniers and was thinking about getting the TRK33 for the exhaust side and the TRK46 for the other side. The 46 is cheaper but I think the 46 on the exhaust side would stick out too much hence going for the 33.

What do you think, Is that going to cause some uneven weight issues or will that be OK? Does anyone else have uneven panniers?

I don't really get this uneven weight distribution stuff..
Surely the bike already has uneven weight distribution.. the ruddy big exhaust, but nobody ever worries about that.
I'd bet you'd never notice, unless you went completely bonkers and stuffed one pannier full of lead.!

I have a 46 for the clutch side and a 33 for the exhaust. I load the weight evenly between the two where I can (I don't weigh them though!). It makes the bike seem symmetrical on width & the extra space is useful. Using them as a topbox I have a 54L(?) Trekker which I use 99% of the time, though sometimes I use the 33. If I didn't have the larger box I imagine I'd be using the 46 for most of my commuting as it'd take a large bag/helmet.

Perfect thanks for that. I was worried it would look lopsided.

I've ordered from Bykebitz despite Fat Rat's post from a week or so ago. I'm not in a rush for them and they're the cheapest around especially with the forum discount.

Thinking of getting a set of 33's, how to you find the top loading part? I have e21's on at the minute and like the top loading feature.
sportsbikeshop look the cheapest for a set.

I got a set of 33s and don't regret buying them. I load them up in the usual way, put them on the bike and everything shuffles down.  Open top flap, now room for small items, drinks, sarnis, maps, etc. Better than my old set that usually resulted in spilling content's  on the side of the road. Even when the tent is across the back of seat they are still accessible .
