New Black 650XT
The changes to the engine have made the bike a lot smoother and given it better acceleration, roll on acceleration in any gear feels very smooth.
Easy start system works a treat, no more clutch switch problems.
Rear foot pegs now incorporate the mountings for the slide on pack up box sized luggage.
Display has more information available, instant mpg, average mpg, range left, Volt meter, two trips meters, traction control mode etc. most available all the time or accessable quickly from left hand switch gear. Switchable traction control on the go (need to throttle off).
This may have been a dealer mod but the rear wheel axle bolt goes right to left not left to right(most change it over to ease re-fitment of wheel/Caliper)
No more preload on front folks, felt planted with the now standard A40's (I have these fitted and felt very much at home with them, didn't feel as harsh as mine do thou).
Rear preload knob has been extended to make it easier to adjust for two up riding.
With the standard screen there was no buffeting on top setting. The lack of rake adjustment (like on the 1000) is a shame as it would have made the screen even better.
The seat and the back of the tank are narrower, making it easier for short arses to get my feet down, the all metal tank means better (cheaper) tank bag options. The standard seat felt very firm but should give with use. I would still have to lower the bike to get enough of a foot down to feel happy.
The bike feels lighter, Only about 1kg but it carries it well, It doesn't feel as bulky as the old Glee.
Brakes now have what looks like sintered pads fitted, very very capable for spirited riding hardly any level movement gives exceptional stopping. This nearly caused me to crash my bike on the way home as it took a while to get used to the less than good brakes I have compared to these.
