Radiator paint?
« on: March 30, 2017, 19:35:43 »
Three years ago I stripped out the radiator on my wee and repainted it with Hammerite Smooth (it had the usual corrosion damage in the lower corners). Over time the corrosion has reappeared to the point where I need to do the whole thing again. Not too chuffed with that because it took alot of work to strip back and repaint (I think it was three coats). :groan:

So, as I have to do this again I wanted to know whether anyone has done this and used a different type of paint (with better performance than three years).

I have considered POR15 but I know that it does not react well to light (no idea how it would cope with heat). Currently looking at places like Frost.co.uk to see what they stock.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Did you use an Etch Primer?
Also, Kurust is an excellent product on steel, not sure about its effectiveness on aluminium.

Nope, didn't use an etch primer so I guess I should try that next and see if it helps. Wondering about giving the PJ1 product a try, it seems to get good reviews - Mostly.

Frost have just brought out their own brand of radiator paint along with some other specialist paints, e.g. chassis black, etc.
