I think it would only void the warranty on the specific parts if the powder coating caused the issue I.e. they cracked in the oven.

I also hate silver on my bike. Silver stripes on the sides of the tank are already wrapped in satin black vinyl. As for the subframe, I don't have my private garage to work on the bike so had no chance to disassemble the subframe to take it to powder coating. Some of the lighter work I do in collective garage my apartment building has but I can't just leave stuff laying around waiting for subframe to come back. So I was delaying the color change. As I decided to trade the bike in, September this year, for 2018 model, I gave up as the new model already comes with black subframe.
Now, looking at new model, only rear rack is silver. It looks ridiculous. So, I'm going to remove mine from my actual bike, sand it with water sanding paper (that will take many hours), down to black plastic. Then I will decide if I'm going to leave it like that or paint it with satin clear.
Then, when new bike comes, I'll simply swap rear racks and that way my old bike will have perfect new rack (better for selling) and I'll have black rack for new bike.
At this point, my rear rack looks terrible, loosing paint all over.

There are some good plastic paints out there. I painted a Top Box with good results, It's posted on here somewhere.  :thumb:

Spoked wheels are on XT model. I'll go with standard model with cast wheels and it will be in white so no silver inserts by the tank. They are in white and on black model they are black. On yellow bike they are silver.
