COSMO Foot Peg Lowering Kit
« on: December 25, 2016, 07:39:10 »
Hi,

A Merry Christmas to all you 'Stromers -  :xmas-smile:

I have just fitted a Cosmo foot peg lowering kit to my L5 Glee.

If you purchase one of these kits from Cosmo be prepared (for the L5 anyway) to have to make some modifications to the brake side brake light switch mounting and the Cosmo bracket supplied - see attached.  I will be sending this feedback onto Cosmo as well.  By the way, the original Suzuki foot peg mounting bolts are soft and I replaced mine with stainless steel ones.

Comfort wise, so far so good, I have yet to go out on a long ride, but early indications (ride out yesterday) are that comfort is improved.

That's odd as no need to modify anything for the L2 and I didn't realise they'd changed any design for the L5. Good to know anyway  :thumb:

No mods needed to fit the cymarc lowering kit, yours seem to move the pegs further forward than mine.  :xmas-smile:

There's something wrong on OP's photo. Brackets are upside-down or sides are swapped.
I have a pair on DL1000 2014 and they're perfect fit.
DL1000 2017 white
DL1000 2014 red (sold)
DL650 2012 white (sold)

Found it. Attached to first post rather than posted. I didn't spot the paper clip, using my phone.  :old:

That doesn't look right at all. The angles are all wrong, and nothing seems to fit. I know Cosmo says it fits all 650s from 2002-2016, and 1000s from 2002 to 2011 but surely even a "universal" setup wouldn't look like that or require so much altering.
If so, I'm very glad I bought British, my Cymarc lowering kit was a very accurate perfect fit.

As I said, the Cosmo ones I bought years ago fit with no problems (as did the fork brace). The only issue I had with the lowering kit was the first set posted ripped through the bag and vanished in the post.

(And better still didn't come from Scunthorpe*  :haha:)

I can see the picture OK on my PC.
I'm guessing the plates have been put on the wrong sides.
Are they marked "L" left and "R" right?

I would be surprised if Cosmo supplied anything that didn't fit.

Hi,

It would appear that I am more of a numpty than I previously thought....  lol

I have clearly mounted this lot the wrong way around... However the modifications I made, have not resulted in the bike being unrideable at all and so far the location of the foot pegs has proved to be very comfortable.

The kit arrived with no instructions or reference to an online video (see attachments) which would have steered me down the right way.

Thanks for clearing up that little puzzle. I will here admit to ..... when fitting the Cymarc lowering kit ... and as you know instructions are for girls eh!  :fix: Well it all fitted and I set off for a test ride however the gear box was ... well .... upside down.  The selector hooked second instead or first and vice versa.  My brain refused to admit to the problem and I spent a good few minutes trying to understand what was happening. Back in the garage and on stripping the footrest off I realised I had reversed the throw of the gear lever / rod.  :shy: Once this was reinstalled correctly it all worked as required.
Since then I have been known to take a photo or ten of bits prior to and during removal / fiddling.
