Will pre 2013 seats fit 2013 V-Strom 650?

After an extremely embarrassing incident where me and the new V-strom ended up on our sides while stationary, due to a combination of a steep road and adverse camber(!) I think I could do with getting hold of one of the low seats to give me a bit more leeway in the leg department.

I'm waiting for one to come up on ebay, but struggling to find one for my machine.   Does anyone know if the seats for a 2013 model will fit the previous version?

A 2013 seat will fit a 2012, but not anything earlier than that.

Depending where you live,you are welcome to bring your bike and try a low seat from my K9 Wee,I replaced it with a KLV 1000 seat as they are higher.I live in Derbyshire. I have no idea whether or not it will fit.but originally didn't think the KLV seat would fit but it's spot on.Ian Mc.

The seats changed from Vee or Wee to Glee in the L2, 2012 model year. All 2002-2011 seats could be swapped but not after that. Veek and Glee don't fit each other either. You're limited to 2012 and later 650 seats, as MartinW wrote.

I've been looking into this a bit further, because to be honest I'm a bit puzzled as to why I find my seat to be a bit too high, given that I'm nearly 6' tall (I get the balls of my feet down on both sides, but not flat feet).   I've  got to wondering whether my bike might actually have the tall seat option?  I've just been out to measure my seat height (presumably you do that at the lowest point of the seat? and obviously with both wheels on the ground) and I come up with 890mm.  Now as far as I can ascertain, the published standard seat height for the 2013 DL650 AL2 is 835mm, +/- 20mm for the low and high seat options.  So mine is apparently a full 35mm higher than the even the high seat option!  My seat's certainly an unmodified Suzuki one as far as I'm aware? (pics attached).

Can anyone shed any insight on this oddness?

Here's the underside... the only marking is:  11JO >PP< - don't know what that is.

The higher seat has less if a swoop down.

How is your suspension pre load set up? I took mine down a few clicks and I can now get both feet flat

Oh for God's sake: have been and measured again this evening and come up with... 835mm, ie it's a bog-standard, normal seat.  I'm going to fire my assistant!

I just slide my arse off the seat a little if it's windy and I want a full foot down. I believe you might be able to take the rubber blocks of the under side to go a little lower.
