EBC brake pads
« on: July 04, 2016, 07:22:03 »
650 AL2 - Hi, Just fitted standard EBC brake pads (rear). Had to push piston all the way back to install them. The replacement pads seem to be wider than the original Suzuki ones due to having more friction material. Should I have fitted the metal back plates and 'paper' like shims, or left them off? -

Cheers

The metal shim and pad are meant to be used on the new pads.
They help reduce any brake squeal.
They don't have to be used but I'd keep them around until next time the caliper or rear wheel needs to come off.

I put ebc pads on mine , I think I remember reading not to put it on , I've had no problems although I still kept them.

Aftermarket pads should be the same thickness as OEM ones enabling you to put the shims and heat pads on the back of the EBC pads .
The shims and heat pads are desighned to help brake squeak and dispersed heat .
