I didn't personally change it no. I bought a new pump and asked asked a so called mechanic to do it as I hadn't got the time to do it then. But he'll soon be getting a mock on the door from me. I removed the pump last night and it hasn't been changed!! It looks like the original one is still in there :angry-banghead:
I'm going to be checking the pump out today and I'll try adding power straight to it to see if there's any difference

Opps that's not good ... I'd just like to add that when I did my Vee I just replaced the pump and sieve which made the fuel output double in the 30sec timescale from 500ml to just over 1000ml .
A replacement pump and sieve cost £20 on eBay which may solve your problem but if you decide to modify the main filter be carefull they cost around £250 so it will be far from cheap If you damage it .
If you think about it you have a 14year parts in there , Hope you get it sorted .. :thumb:

OK so I've changed the pump (motor) and there's not much change in fuel flow. I'm guessing there's a blockage in the unit somewhere. Also I started the bike up after changing the motor and if I hold the throttle on the problems still there and I've noticed a backfire now and again?

Yes. The motor is rarely a problem. The typical problem is a clogged high pressure filter. Either a very expensive filter replacement is required or give this a try. http://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,6105.0.html

Thanks greywolf. I have seen this mod mentioned before. Can I ask where is the high pressure filter situated? I'll have to look into doing this mod I can't see what else there is to try other than throwing a lot of money at a complete unit which I'd rather avoid. Is there no way of back flushing it? I know the fuel that came out of it looked like it's had a tea bag in it!! It was like muddy water.

Scooby, I have posted a link twice to a thread on this very site showing the pump assembly, the high pressure filter and videos of pressure tests.

Fat rat I'll have a look at those now. I didn't think it was going to be the fueling at first. But now it's obvious it is. I'll take a look. And thanks everyone for all your advice and tips

Just watched the vid Fat Rat mine is pretty much the same flow as that on the cycle test. I help my thumb over the end of the fuel line whilst turning the key on too and there felt like there was decent pressure so it only leaves that HPF being blocked!
