Power Commander
« on: June 10, 2016, 16:48:20 »
I see there is a Power Commander that is suitable for a V-Strom on Ebay at the moment if anyone is interested. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142019852226?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

What exactly are the benefits of these gizmos?

They are often helpful with lean running Vees. 650s don't benefit from them unless a lot of work is done on intakes and exhausts to get more power and the freer flowing systems get too lean.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

They enable you to map the amount of fuel going into the engine to remove any lean parts of the rev range, as Greywolf says the Vee runs quite lean, add an aftermarket exhaust and it's very lean, it made a huge difference to my Vee, you can download maps but they are best set up on a rolling road, costs a bit but it's money well spent (if you are having issues)

Again though, lean fuel shouldn't be a problem on a 650.
