secondary butterfly removal
« on: May 31, 2016, 11:10:21 »
Hi just had a dig around under the tank of my 04 wee
found secondary butterfly flaps had been removed also PAIR feed from airbox blanked off  bike runs fine no problems, bike came like this so can't compare it with standard set up .Did similar mods(and much more) on previous TL1000s & SV1000s. Do they have any affect ,positive or negative on the wee ? :old:

I removed the butterflies as I had issues with the STVA but once sorted the bike ran great.

Slightly sharper throttle response as the computer was less involved.
MPG was unaffected.

I know a few have removed the pair system as it gets in the way when working on the bike and not needed in the UK as bikes aren't emissions tested. Suppose it saves a bit of weight too.

Don't remove the butterflies on a Wee. It doesn't have any restrictions to unrestrict.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s
