I'm surprised that the garage didn't clean it after the service for that price.   :thumb:

@2112, if you are not 100% happy with the cruise control contact Veridian. Mine was surging ever so slightly on my KTM, they sent me an updated file that fixed it completely.

I stupidly didn't fit a lead to mine so I had to remove all the bodywork and tank for access to the port.

I've left a lead within easy access now. :)
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

It's user error more than anything else, it does wander a bit and I've looked at the spec's for mine a +/- of 3mph is 'normal' tollerance. It's hidden to far into the bike to fish out again to put a USB C lead in the port too...

It’s been almost 2 weeks since my 5000 miles service on the Harley.
If you remember on the test ride after the service the Tech bloke found the rear brake was non existent.
So they kept it to investigate the reason why the rear brake was so poor this was being done under warranty.
So rung at tea break this morning and got the usual press 1 for sales 2 for etc
So I press 4 for servicing, sales answer ( new sales girl Lex) so asked to be put through to Nicky on the service desk, she was busy with a customer, I said while you are on the phone I asked her to give me a trade in price for my bike against the Nightster S they have in stock. Just wanted to know how much the difference would be ? I also asked her to get Nicky to ring me back.
So I get home at 3.30 haven’t had a call from either of them !!
Rang again and Nicky answered saying ohhh I haven’t had time to ring you back! I ask any news on the warranty on my bike the answer was no news !!!!
So I said quite bluntly right I need to have a curtesy bike …. She said oh OK I will have to talk to my manager.
So I am expecting a call tomorrow hopefully…. Stay tuned  lol

Two weeks to sort out a rear brake?? FFS I suppose the £1,000,000 per hour technicians fee has to be cleared through someone in H-D HQ.  You've paid for the bike and so you're no longer a priority.
You deserve better.

Monday I dropped off the wheels for new tyres to be fitted an the local car place that also does bike MOT's.
Quick spin out for a new chain & sprockets kit from M&P and had a wander around without chasing around a 5 year old for once.
£110 lighter with the chain kit, I was buying sod all else.
Picked up the wheels around 2.30pm after a call to say they were done.

Tuesday got around to fitting it all, checked the balance on the front - all good. Rear needed the existing weights removed and a 10g in a difference place.
Cleaned the callipers and pistons while I had the callipers loose.

Fitted the wheels no issues fitting the new rear sprocket before putting the back wheel on.
then the chain and front sprocket.
Chain was the usual arsing around with the riveting tool and then a small ball hammer.
the front sprocket was a piece of cake with my new ebay special impact gun.  :fix:
I've gone back to -1 tooth on the front sprocket for better slow speed control - and I remembered to change the setting on my speedo healer.

With the bike all back together I checked the tyre pressures which was when I noticed the rear tyre was on the wrong sodding way round... and I had put a big marker pen arrow on the disk as the arrow on the rim is quite small  :dl_smiley_banghead:  :icon_batterup:

Bike was ready to go, the place was 500yrds away and it was the rear tyre...
"Hello blokes, you put the rear tyre on the wrong fecking way, can you swap it around please?"
They replied if I could drop it round next week they'll sort it, to which I refused.
This mistake was done today and I want it fixed today, I did everything to make sure you put it on the correct way and it was still messed up.
They said they can't take the wheel off the bike don't have the tools, so if I came back in the morning with the wheel, it'll only take them 5 mins to do.
"oh I'll be back in 2 mins with the wheel if you can do it in 5 mins then" and popped outside, one of them following me, while I pulled the axle and slide out the rear wheel.
The bloke said "I can see you've done that a few times"
To be fair the blokes were tidy enough, but a little rushed with work they had on and I just knew they could do with me bringing them another problem to solve.

tyre put on the correct way, and one of the lads came out to see if I needed a hand just as I was nipping up the axle bolt.  :fix:

A quick test ride and all is well.
Just need to wash it on the weekend - It's not been washed I think since before the August meet in Fat Rat's, not that it's been used much, but I needs a deep clean.

Today, I addressed one of the Victory's more obvious MOT failures (which passed the test last year) the headlight bulbs. I've removed the naughty LED high & low beam bulbs and put the correct H11 halogen ones back in. They were so obvious as it has a clear lens you can easily see through. It now has a much better spread of light (although a bit less of it) on both low and high beam and when you flick it onto high the Clearwater fog lights get brighter, aiding visibility. They didn't do that with the LED's, probably a resistance/impedance issue ? I also need to fit a switch to control the fog lights as they are permanently on with the ignition at the moment.

For the record, I'm a fan of upgraded headlight bulbs, just not when you can so obviously see they are not legal.

Well just got home from work and F##k all from Harley. Not a phone call or an email  :violence-smack:

I am going to phone them now to see what’s going on ? I promised my wife I would keep my cool and be nice to whoever answers the phone.  But I am definitely going there tomorrow  :icon_batterup:

There is nothing like turning up in person to sort things out. I've done it with great success over the years - good luck and don't let them fob you off  :thumb:

This is the Harley Nightster S   I may be thinking of buying if they offer me a good price for mine.

It turns out it’s the same bike I test rode in august 2023 before I bought mine.

I seem to remember that bike from somewhere Alby, lol. Its a lot of money  for a few extra bits though, and has it had the switchgear recall done, and does the rear brake work? You might want to take a trip to Canterbury and try an Indian?   :thumb:

Well here goes……
We turned up at Harley Maidstone at 9am ready to stand my ground and wanted to know what was going on.
It was already packed being a nice sunny day and all that  lol
It was explained what was happening with my bike (awaiting a rear master cylinder and Harley was out of stock ) the tech bloke said as soon as it comes in they will fit it and see if that fixes the problem.  Then the manager arrived and added that all the Nightsters in stock have also got the same brake problem as mine !!
I then said well I need  a curtesy bike so he agreed saying I will see what we have from Harley - Triumph - and Honda he added have you any preference ?
I said because of my leg I need something low I was told leave it with me I will find something for you.
He came up with a brand new Harley Sportster 1250 S to test ride 👍 I took it out for half an hour and it was really liked it.  He asked how did I get on I replied it was the first bike I had ridden with forward foot controls but really liked it.   He said he was hoping to let me take it as a curtesy bike but someone had booked a test ride on it in the afternoon, we went back in and I noticed a 2023 Sportster S had a sit on it and it felt so good so I asked him for a trade in price for my bike Against the Sportster …..  so we came up with a deal that suited both of us and I added an extra 2 years extended warranty
I rode my new bike away  :happydance:

Very nice, looks a bit of a beast too. I can see the Screaming Eagle catalogue getting a visit in the near future  :thumb:  That screen looks surprisingly useful too, does it take much wind off you ?
