After letting the oil drain out of the Victory all night, it was time to refill the beast. It takes 20/40 fully synthetic oil, which is not the most common of oils here in the UK. Most people seem to run them on 10/40 fully synthetic or 20/50 fully synthetic (as per the Victory forums). All of these options are more than acceptable accross the likely UK tempreture range. I've gone with a 15/50 after a good few recommendations from fellow Europeans, again it's well within the likely tempreture operating range. The original oil filters are getting hard to come by too as Victory's are no longer made, so I opted for a K&N item. The beauty with the K&N is it comes with a 17mm nut on the end of the filter to make it easy to remove if it's being a bit stubborn. All filled up, I just need to pop a few miles on and recheck it.

After having a good sift through the oil that came out, it wasn't as bad as I had feared. No metallic particles (hooray) and not as lumpy as I first thought, it was just well due for a change. The bike sounds as sweet as a nut now and idles with a lovely burble. Happy. I'll still change it again soon, purely as precautionary overkill.

Good work, it's a gloriously ridiculous hunk of iron so glad you're keeping it alive.

It is indeed, a pointless, thirsty, unweildy lump - but so much fun at the same time ! Ridiculously funny to ride too, it always brings a smile

Keep an eye on the K and N they have been known to leak around the nut end.

Now I have taxed it I rode my new to me bike to work this morning 👍
Once I had finish work I went for a little ride as you do  lol    I stopped to take a few pictures of fairly local to me windmills. The first one is in the pretty village of Stock and is a Tower mill. And the Second one is in an equally pretty village of Mountnessing and is a Post mill.  Oh and I have added a quick picture of Stock church but it was getting near rush hour by that point and I am not quick enough walking across the road  lol
I am really liking the Harley Sportster and starting to get the hang of it 👍
I am very grateful to have owned the little Harley Nightster that bike got me back riding again and I am very thankful for that.

Thank you  :thumb:
There is one thing bringing it home at motorway speeds it seemed to me to be weaving slightly ?   When I got back from the little ride this afternoon
I have checked the front tyre and it seems to be wearing strangely ?
I think I will ring  the Harley dealership tomorrow and see what they say, I didn’t notice it when I bought it !!!!

Ohh, picture of the odd wear if you get the chance. Nothing like a pic of an oddly worn tyre.

My former Tiger 1200 used to put a 45 degree flat spot on either side of the front tyre, creating the most odd wear pattern. Starting in the centre it went round, flat and then round again, odd. It eventually started to feel a bit odd but by then it was due a change anyway.

2112 I will take a picture over the weekend.  I Rang the dealership today and told them about the tyre I am taking it in next Friday for them to take a look.

Had another ride out after work today. Headed to Bradwell bay to get a picture of the bike at the WW2 war memorial.  on the way I stopped to take this picture with the Radio Caroline ship in the Blackwater Estuary, apparently the DJs have to Row out in a dingy to do there show.

Just got back..out early today on the RR, sorted the crash helmet inner visor pressing on my face at speed by getting a dark visor...very 90s.
Won't post about where /what ... 'cos most of it was highly illegal... and a shit ton of fun....

1st proper ride out on the Scrambler today, with my Son on the Glee.
1hr 45mins loop ashford, tenterden, appledore, Rye, New Romney, Hythe and back.
About 60 miles in total, nice twisty roads albeit a bit blowy in places. Scrambler seat good for about 1hr 40 ish  :thumb:.

Today saw me cover 230 miles along some glorious roads in the Borders. We started off in Morpeth, headed West through Longwhitton, Elsdon and then Otterburn. We went past Kielder and stopped off at Newcastleton for a bacon buttie & a cuppa. From here we headed up the A7, turning off up the Ettrick Valley road and through Eskdalemuir & Ettrick. We then headed to St Mary's Loch for more tea and a pie. Then it was back home through Selkirk, Coldstream & Wooler. I average just over 65mpg and got 225 miles out of the tank. However, on filling up I managed to get 16.2L into the 16.9L tank, a bit fine. Cracking day out!
