The other thing it could be other than the battery itself Asmith is if there is a fault which is draining it overnight even though nothing has been left on.
If a multimeter is [configured to read amps] wired in series between the battery positive terminal and the bike's wiring it'll show up whether the value is higher than it should be.
I'm a little bit suspicious of it being the battery as you say it does start the bike very well when fully charged.
Think you will have a fight on your hands at the dealers as that's exactly what they will say.
Good luck.

endintears hopefully they will test everything for me ?
But that thought had crossed my mind ?
But I think it’s just a knackered battery which should not be on a bike that is only 9 months old !!!!

Asmith personally from what you have already posted I think your dealers position will be as follows.
A: The battery is fit for purpose as it is capable of being fully charged and when it is it starts the bike no problem.
B: It is normal for the bike's systems to put a drain on the battery even when it's not in use and therefore needs to be kept "topped up".

If I were to be challenging that position it would be that the battery is being drained in an unreasonably short period of time.
If other owners of the same model of a similar age (incuding yourself in the recent past?) can leave their bikes untended for a considerably longer period of time than you currently can then it is reasonable for you to expect the same.
Shouldn't be too hard to find evidence from third parties to support your position if that becomes necessary.

Also Asmith I learnt/was taught that before entering into negotiations particularly related to a dispute establish clearly in ones own mind what outcome you are trying to achieve.
I suspect a satisfactory outcome for you is a bike that you can leave for more than a month and it still start.
Having a new battery fitted may achieve that.
However if actually what happens is the dealer perceives the cheapest way for them to get you out of their hair is rather than spending [considerable] time and effort tracing the actual fault is a budget forty quid battery and fifteen minutes of an apprentices time to fit it but after which you find the bike still has a problem all though they have done what you are currently requesting your desired outcome will not have been achieved.
Again good luck :handgestures-fingerscrossed:

Thank you all for your replies 😃

just got back from the dealers. Firstly they had no idea I was coming 😱 I told them I had called twice about the problem and was told to bring it in on Friday afternoon where they will test the battery.
well all the technicians were busy doing services etc and they couldn’t do anything today!!
this is when I made my presence felt I didn’t swear or anything but said I have just ridden 60 miles straight from work to get this resolved as discussed with one of your team.
they said we cannot just fit another battery as we need to test your battery first and that takes 3 hours !!!! Before we can open up a warranty claim. And they have no one to do this.
the service department girl heard this and she remembered me from my first service she did go in the workshop and speak to one of the technicians for me, and she came out to me and said there is a warranty issue with the Nightster where when the weather is hot there is a voltage leak that makes the brake light glow very slightly????
and either the left or right handle bar switch gear needs replacing under warranty as there is a problem with them 🤔

so she is going to contact me when she can book it in.
now not sure if they are just having me on but at least something is happening.

in the meantime she said just leave it on trickle charge 🤣🤣

Good to hear they are doing something.

We had issues a few years back when Bassets Nissan in Swansea let the work experience kid wash my wife's works lease car unsupervised.

There were great big scratches everywhere in arcs like those you'd make washing the car... and my wife never washed her car!

6 months of back and fro and got know where until I went on the bike, basically baracased the showroom doors with the bike and spoke very loudly so everyone in the showroom could here...
"I'M HEAR TO SPEAK TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AS NO-ONE WILL ANSWER US ABOUT WHEN THE DAMAGED CAUSED BY YOUR WORK EXPERIENCE KID DID TO MY WIFES CAR WHEN THEY WASHED THE CAR UNSUPERVISED IS GOING TO BE SORTED"

I was quietly escorted into the service managers office to discuss the matter, this is after being told he's not in.

You don't have to shout and swear, but talk loudly explaining your grievance to the whole world does tend to get things resolved.   lol

Rode the Varadero to work today loaded with the camping gear.
Finished work and hussled passed all the cagers down to St Davids for a couple of nights of peace.

Weather is currently nice, but rain moving in overnight may mean my planned walk to solva may be somewhat damp.

Well having ridden the bike 70 odd miles yesterday, I didn’t put the bike on the trickle charge to just see if it kept its charge. I tried it on twice today a few hours apart and it started both times straight away.
We have just come back from dinner and pulled the cover up and this is what we saw the rear light was glowing fairly brightly.  So it seems that Harley were right !!
It was good to find that really 👍

Now there’s a thought Rusty I really don’t know ? As it was glowing I did put it on the tender last night, I am riding back later the 70 odd miles so I will check it all again later 🤔

That's novel,  for a Harley to have something working when it shouldn't :smirk:
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.
