Todat I fitted a new tyre and valve.
New wheel and sprocket carrier bearings and seals
Started to strip to crud, paint and corrosion off the swing arm.
Now I wondering if I'll ever get the swing arm around the suspension mount clear of rust.
OR is there a primer that will be happy to sit on some rust?

If you wire brush and flapdisc as much rust off as you can, a coat of Kurust will ( allegedly) transform the remainder into a hard black oxide that will prevent and protect against further rust.

I've had decent results painting over Kurust and the old man has painted over Vactan without subsequent bubbling.

If I was keeping it I'd get it sand/bead blasted & probably powder coated, however if I was selling it on then I'd go with Rusty's option.

+1 for Kurust, works really well with a nice thick filler primer over the top  :thumb:

P.S. it would be a crime to put that immaculate wheel into a scabby swing arm...

A rotary brush in a drill is good for the last bits over welds and in corners.Stainless steel ones are coarser brass softer

The small one can be useful.Wear goggles.
Not used kurust, but have used jenolite rust converter , the same thing really,All work well but the more rust you get off the better the results.
On my gen 1 fazer simoniz silver engine enamel was a good colour match for both engine and swingarm.

Colours eh! this is not a refurb to "better than new" although the swing arm will be dark grey as I alredy have two can of it in the cupboard. This is just a tidy-up with new bearings chain, sprockets  etc.  If the power unit runs well I may do something better paintwise in the future but at my age the future was yesterday. :old:
The S/A had a number of different paints on it including Hammerite. Now with the paint and rust removed the birdshit welding could be used as a rasp file although it's quite nice where it shows.

MOT at Laguna's and completed an oil and filter change in the yard once home.
Only 600 miles since last dealer service in 2021 (2 years is my limit for oil). :thumb:

Today I gave the Corbin seat a bit of love and applied a bit of leather food. It'll be as slippery as Rod Hulls roof next time out but it looks (and smells) amazing.

How are you doing 2112?
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

I'm still here ! I got back to work last week and managed OK, surprisingly well in fact. I'm going back to normal hours this week. I feel good and you wouldn't know I'd ever had a heart attack. What were once minor cuts have become a major issue and I was nearly taken out by a Rose thorn in the garden last week - damn blood thinners !

Cheers folks and I have taken the advice to avoid skips onboard. I'm also avoiding Monster Munch, Hoola Hoops, Frazzles in fact all nice, tasty crisp related products. Celery anyone ?

Treated the 1090 to a few days away in Keswick, staying in a shed pod.
