Yes, it used to be a really big county back in the dark ages.
It's pronounced 'twenty-one-twelve'

What a glorious day – bright sunshine, drying roads and a thrumming F8GS between my legs.

Seeing as all of the above factors were in place I set course for the lovely bendy roads that lead to Inverness (none of them main roads of course). Thence onto more bendy back roads that had me popping out onto the A82 at Drumnadrochit.
Being way too early in the tourist season for coaches and johnny foreigner cars/camper vans, this fantastic road was mine for enjoying to the full . . . which I tried very hard to do!
However, Fort Augustus was hoaching with mini buses full of camera totting tourists, so I carried on trundling into the hills and winding roads that run along the south side of the loch.
Pictures looking back at Fort Augustus

Never happy to miss a lesser road I headed over towards Tomatin from Farr, stopping for a brew next to Farr Loch

Wending briefly south on the A9 I nipped off onto the “Road Closed” old A9 at Sloched, coming out at Carrbridge. Once passed Grantown I took my favourite small bendy road back towards Moray.

190+ miles at a very low average speed, accompanied by a very sore face . . . from grinning whilst riding my bike over a 6 hour trip.

I like the way all the traffic, houses and industrial estates have been photo shopped out  :icon_wink:
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

Just in case really.
Just in case it falls off.
Just in case you're inclined.
Just in case you also have a stupid 6ft shoulder/security strap on you tank bag. For those who prefer metric.....that's right around......6ft.
This was my solution on the Kappa 9L jobbie.

Does it come with a gimp mask and a gag?

Asking for a friend.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Your friend can't ask for himself? In the cellar with an 8-ball gaffa taped to his gob, then. Again.

Wanted to call at Eyres near Bradwell.
https://williameyre.co.uk/
Great excuse to use the bike however nearly (really nearly) ended in - well you know what.
Had a big moment as I crossed the cattle grid at the bottom of Winnats.
Only doing about 20mph but closest I've been to coming off in a long time.
No excuse.
I know the road well and I know how slippy the grid can be :violence-smack: approached it too quickly :violence-smack: miss calculated where an oncoming vehicle was going to be :violence-smack:
Managed to save it but I think I frightened the oncoming van driver as much as myself
Stay safe everybody.

I'd say welcome to the club but even for me that would be in bad taste. A wet cattle grid on the B6278 gave me my biggest "oh feck" in years, I suspect I make it worse by tensing up as I ride over them now.

I'm so pleased you survived mate.

Absolutely terrifying things ... I once bounced the Super Tenere off the lock stops going over saddleworth moor, again only doing about 15/20mph ...

Glad you're all in 1 piece :)

Had a nice ride to work in the drizzle, got a txt off SWMBO when I sat at my desk saying she's got COVID.  :dl_smiley_banghead:

Back on the bike and home via Tesco for petrol or I'd be walking the last 3 miles-  now I'm sat in the back room, working off a small laptop screen when I normally have two big 27" monitors.  :icon_batterup:

Has been nice to ride the bike for a couple of days to beat the traffic - I now suspect I won't be going anywhere for a few days even thought I've tested negative today.

The C word seems to be doing the rounds again, a big chunk of my family has it and a few at work have had it - stay safe  :thumb:

P.S. A good reason to avoid your in-laws, just saying...

Cattle grids....two instances come to mind.
One was when I parked in the small pull in just above Tissington ford for a coffee. When I left I pulled out of the top part of the layby I hit the cattle grid still turning slightly and accelerating, obviously the grid was wet through from the vehicles negotiating the ford, and the rear stepped out a bit, probably as far as my head did when it got whacked by a gloved hand from the rear.  :violence-smack:
The second one was on a road, in Derbyshire again, when I pulled out to overtake a couple of cars on a nice bit of straight road. I was doing a fair speed by the time I had passed them & I spotted the cattle grid a little late, too late to get sufficient speed off. We didn't leave the ground but it did stretch the suspension somewhat & when we came down it was with quite a thump.
The intercom kicked into life with the words, "Goodness me what on earth are you doing, I don't want you to do that again because you've just given me whiplash and made me very cross!"
Well, those weren't the exact words but I think that's what she meant.   ###

We once has a lad come into the dealership wanting stickier tyres for his CBR125.

There aren't any really it's a CBR125 after all was the response.

He then said "I keep falling off going over the cattle grid 500yrds down the road from my house, I ride fast past my mates waiting at the bus stop on the way to collage but then there is the cattle grid just after the bus stop and slightly round the corner.
As soon as touch the first bar of the grid when banked over the bike goes from under me"

We said "slow down and go over with the bars straight and the bike vertical"

His response was classic 17 Year old. - "I can't go slow past my mates at the bus stop!"

Careful out there folks - idiots live amongst us!

I finally found the time to fit my new battery.  :lala:

Setting the calendar, clock and service indicator will have to wait until more time is available, one job at a time. :smirk:
