From down the warm end, as said, anyone north of Watford gap is a northerner.

Anyway , not bragging but my heating won't go on until January...   :stirpot: :stirpot:

Is that because all of you Souvern Monkeys spend all your time riding round on night buses?
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

This morning I braved the biting chill of only 14 degrees and took the KTM out for a trundle north. The forecast was 12% chance of rain so I wore my water resitant trousers and jacket on top of leather riding trousers on top of thermal under clangers. On the way home it rained just enough to make the daft outfit a good idea. The trek to the North included a stop over at "Grumpys" for a bacon and egg bap and a then the usual trip  for a coffee at Oulton Broad where is was a balmy 18 degrees. 159 miles for the round trip and a glance at the map shows Oulton is almost the same latitude as Birmingham. I was briefly a Midlander.

When  I bought the Moto Guzzi V7 special I was some time weighing up the pros and cons regarding the V7 Stone or the Special. In the end I chose the Special. I had no idea that I was going to like the bike as much as I have so far. And even more importantly I can get on and off fairly easily. So then I had the V7, the 650 KTM for trailer camping and the NC750X which more and more showed up my failing hips until it was so very difficult to get on and off it without groaning and grunting, head scraping the left hand mirror and boot sliding over the seat. So when they dropped the price of the Stone by £700 it was for me a no brainer to look at a trade in for the stone. There was no point in keeping the Honda if it is just too difficult to ride.  It cost me a smidge over £1700 to do the deal and now I have two V7s. I opted for the all black version. The only differences are the LED Hedlight, all digital single instrument display and very little chrome.  The bike runs and feels the same and the seat although a slightly different pattern, is just as comfortable. I know the matt paint on the exhaust pipes will soon chip and need a repaint.  First on the list of add ons is a mudguard extender, and later a main stand and engine bars. Not yet though as they cost IRO £440 and now I am a bit skint.

Last week, my voltage reader on my Honda fell off where it was mounted and broke its tinted case/cover
I wasn't going to buy another so I stripped it and fixed it inside my speedo housing as this was the only place it wouldn't get wet.

It was bit "in your face" in the dark, I've since added some tint over the outside to calm the brightness.

It'll do ...  :)

lol the way the digits line up on the mileage might suggest a "haircut".

Good work mate, sometimes it's best not to bring attention to your skills in dismantling instruments.

We've quite a few local entrepreneurs who offer "mileage correction". Is that the same as a "haircut"?

Got a little story about mileage correction or a haircut as its also known.

Not sure if I've told this already but Back in the 90s and early naughties a mate, who was a courier, rode a Honda Revere 600 (NT600).
When purchased, it had around 20k on the clock, he used it for about 3 years and took the mileage up to around 90k but although the mileage was high it was still in good condition as he looked after it.

As it was still in good condition he decided to sell it but the mileage was to high so, he decided to strip the speedo and give the mileage a "haircut" however, once he opened and removed the speedo there was a note taped inside.

He opened the note and it read .....

"oh no not again" ..!!

He left the note in there , gave the mileage a haircut and sold it ...  lol
