Another ride on the V7 to Posh Pigs for a medium breakfast (with coffee) £9.50. Four friends turned up and we were about to trundle off to Oulton Broad when it started to rain. An hour later, when it stopped, I decided to ride home as in doing so I had met the day's objective. 130 miles and almost ready for the first service.  I know you're probably fed up with the loveliness of the Guzzi so here's picture of my lunch.  And now I must go  and clean the bike. Ah! yes and another thing,  a pheasant flew accross the road and bashed into my new screen. First time I've hit one of those while on a bike.   I'm hoping the screen saved it damaging the tank.

Gawd, I'm hungry now!
Brockett, good reminder of the pheasant run season, they're blummin everywhere at the minute, deer too. Be careful out there.

Now where should I go for breakfast?

The Pheasant pulled the left front indicator away from it's mount but it popped back in easily enough. I think the screen that I fitted the previous evening caught most of it then the indicator and then my shoulder.  I went back on almost the same run out and back today to finish off the  running in miles. First service booked for Tuesday 6th October. ( October ??? where did the summer go?)

I hate it when this happens.
As I was putting the bike away this afternoon I saw this spring on the floor where the bike had stood during the night.
I will have to stare at the bike for some time tomorrow to try to find where it should live.

Might be wrong but on a V7, where the clutch cable mounts to the clutch arm at the engine end, It has a spring that sits between the arm and the engine , keeping it sprung.

Not sure if your model has the same but the above was the first thing I thought of after seeing the picture.

Yes that's what I suspected so big thanks to you for the confirmation.   :bow-blue:
Laying on the floor with a pair of long nose pliers may well be on for tomorrow. I had a look in that area and there does seem to be a recess but I couldn't see how the spring would stay put unless by virtue of the clutch arm keeping it trapped. Yesterday when I loosened the clutch cable to grease it the spring fell out as there was nothing to hold it in.

Dave is that a Florin or Half Crown you're using to 'size' the spring?

There should be a little peg cast into the clutch arm that keeps it in place, but it's not that big, so loosening the cable too far can allow the spring out.

:ty: kwackboy and Mr Nick. That spring is very tricky to re-locate. I had to use very long forceps from my sea fishing kit. Then, just for giggles, I tried to get it to fall out and it just wouldn't. I suppose it's a "Guzzi thing".

Today, myself & my mate Matt had a trundle past the Derwent Reservoir in County Durham, up to Chollerford via several diversions & road closures and then over to Rothbury (see pic, tigger on the LHS) which was very busy with bikes. From Rothbury we had a run past Cragside, through Alnwick and then back down the coast managing to avoid any showers. Happy and the bike got some soapy love when I got back too.

I went out for a little ride to posh pigs and Oulton Broad 140 miles on the Honda NC750X. I know you don't need to see a photo of my breakfast or of the Honda parked up in all of it's uninspiring dullness. So here's a picture of a plug and socket. One of three sets I bought on Ebay for around £6.30 . The plug matches the socket fitted to the Guzzi to supply power for a USB charging device that I don't have. 3 plugs and three sockets for just over £2 each.  :)   I use the supply as a trigger for a relay that fires up the Sat Nav.

Today I finished fitting a set of LED fog/auxiliary lights to the tigger. The factory Triumph items it came with were a bit disappointing (and would have been even more so had I paid £360 for them...) and not very bright. So, I have added a set of E marked lights which I cannot for the life of me remember where I bought them from, it wasn't eBay that's all I know. However, I have wired them so that I can run them with the dipped beam rather than just sidelights as per the original. These are much brighter with a very wide spread of light and are the same 10w as the factory items. I've mounted them approximately 4" lower and 2" wider per side onto the upper engine bars. Very happy with the results -

V7 Guzzi had it's first service. £306  Booked in for 1400 and ready by 1720 ... that's three hours and twenty minutes.  On the bright side it didn't rain and I sat in their cafe and read a book ( well ... some of it) about the Norman conquest.

Two mechanics held me down while the third ripped my wallet apart and grabbed my card.
