A bit of sunday afternoon faffing...

Fell out love with my headlight protector so I used it as a stencil to make another out of a piece of Salvaged shatterproof Perspex.

Love a freebie...  :lala:

Top job mate, I used a jigsaw with a very fine steel cutting blade.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Swearing at it. ### ###
I am having a break  and a tea at the PC while I plot my next move
I just refitted the wheels after new tyres and now the front caliper pistons are refusing to move. ### ###
(Removal of the front wheel requires the caliper to be twisted to push the pistons into the caliper to slip it clear of the disc)

I went to Machine Mart and bought brake piston pliers. After a little twist on each one they all
co-operated nicely. And here's the new rear Avon Trailrider. All buttoned up and ready for a test ride tomorrow as long as it doesn't rain.

KwackBoy loving your work.
That looks so much sweeter. Ever thought of going into business?
That Avon looks very tasty too. Plenty of tread on that baby.

Yesterday I went to the dealers I used to work in to take my dad's Suzuki Address 110 in to swap it for a Yamaha Virago 535 he'd bought the week before.

Taking the scooter in went fine, but taking the Virago home was a bit of an issue.
Getting out of Bridgend, everything seem fine, more power than I expected.
The low down torque is quite impressive for a 535cc v-twin, overtakes were easily done, but then came the problem.

I pulled off a roundabout onto a dual carriageway into lane 2 to overtake a couple of cars and just after 60mph she started to bog down, stutter, pop and intermittently run on one cylinder.
Changing up and down resulted in backfires.
Pulling away from junctions would require nearly full throttle to crawl from 25mph up to 35mph and that was it.

but then 100yards later she'd start to clear her throat  and run lovely again for a mile or so, then repeated the surging, power loss, popping, running on one cylinder.

I took it for a run up the motorway but to no avail.
Took it back to the dealers, who were quite apologetic and it now back in their workshop for a fuel system drain and clean.

I half expected problems with fuel. It's a 1997 bike with less than 6k miles, had done about 400 miles since 2009. But had a major carb rebuild in 2020, which I was hoping would mean she'd run well.
Seems there is crud/rust in the fuel tanks that was dislodged on my longer ride that wasn't dislodged by the 1-2 miles the workshops techs will do on a PDI.

Fingers crossed it'll all be fine for next weekend now.

New neighbour has changed his bike (it appears that he & I suffer the same “changeyerbikealot” condition.
So this afternoon, seeing as the weather was on our side (actually been raining a good bit up here) we just had to head out and roll some miles under his new-to-him steeds wheels

This is us parked up waiting for our valet to pop out with ones tea . . .

The view down the river that slides alongside the castle gatehouse . . .

Final picture of what looks to be a B&W photo of some far off nebular taken from the latest space based 10billion dollar camera . . . but is just some river smeg swirling around below the bridge parapit

I fitted a Loobman chain oiler to the NC750 and then took a 120 mile round trip to deliver a spare Optimate charger to number two son who has let his bike stand unused for six weeks and has a dead flat battery ( Blasted Alarm system). Chain was lightly oiled and all of the oiler stayed put. So that's all good.

What I kept quiet about this week:
1. When I took the KTM for a run to break in the tyres I removed the rear seat to tidy away the optimate lead and set off on a 40 mile run to my wife's house to deliver my son's medication and on arrival found a hole where the pillion seat should have been.  I orderd a replacement which I collected today £119 on the label but they gave me a discount and it cost me £104. Nice! but I still feel like an idiot for not checking it was locked on properly. Hopefully it did not fly off on the A12 at 70 mph and injure anyone.    2. When I fitted the chain oiler pn the Honda I got very mucky and I doused my fingers with carb cleaner and gave them a wipe with kitcken towel.  errr.... OK yes I did this two or three times during the cleaning process  Later that night the skin fell off the ends of my fingers and I think maybe I have "frostbite". It is quite painful and so once again I have found new ways to be stupid.

Eek Brockett
You need to get some isopropyl alcohol / swarfega hand cleaner for getting the muck off rather than carb cleaner...
I hear you can make your own hand cleaner using olive oil, sugar and honey. Might be worth a google for next time.
The seat was a bit annoying though. Bet that's the last time that happens, but we'll done for sharing. We should have a stupid things I've done today thread as I'm sure we'd all fill it up (although Moaning Old Git prob fills the same purpose).
