Tomorrow is will be escorting a mate on his first propper ride since doing his CBT so I thought I better check the Varadero is ready to roll.
Haven't looked at it since parking it up after the easter weekend trip to Snowdonia... broke my foot the following weekend.
Went to the garage, kicked the tyres - seemed OK, checked fuel level... seems enough, oil - yep there's some in there.
Checked battery voltage then fired her up - I've missed that noise and vibration.

Note to self, don't be a prick, you'll be riding with a 125cc.
Nice piece of kit he's bought- Husky Svartpilen 125. 15hp and basically a KTM Duke 125 in a different dress.

I also discovered I'd turned the scottoiler up to max while in Snowdonia.

I took the seat off to get the tools out to reconnect the fuel sender that I'd forgotten to connect after the service before the trip.  :shy:
Noticed I'd used a fair bit of oil in the 150 miles from home - Using engine oil instead of chainsaw oil, so turned it right down... but turned it to prime by mistake.
How quickly you forget the specifics like that when you stop riding everyday... either that or I'm going senile.  :old:

When I fitted the Tutoro oiler on the glee I forgot to turn it off "prime" - emptied the reservoir in about 30 miles. Definitely senility.

On  the NC750X a 179mile trip to meet a friend in Harleston and then run out to Brown's cafe at Mundford.  Sadly on the way up A140 this morning  the road was blocked by a car/ bike accident. The rider was still laying in the road. I didn't go and gawp but took a detour. I hope the rider is OK, but it didn't look good.  So many other bikes around today and quite a few ridden as if they were at the TT on 60mph roads with lots of holiday traffic.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

Today the Tigger got some soapy love after our weekend away in Wales. There was enough protein on the screen to sustain a family of four for a week... Gleaming now though  :thumb:

Getting the BeaST (Pan) checked over and ready for a ride to Portugal starting tomorrow AM. Seems a little strange, we're out of practice after, you know what.
Anybody who sees a green Pan heading South tomorrow, give us a wave.

I'll do my best on the camera front.
We rode there in 2015 and actually got the article published in Motor Cycle Sport and Leisure. Don't be tempted to try the same, it was a pain in the aristotle.
It was actually meant to be a, you can ride to Portugal and not just Austria, France, etc, type of article. To say they made hard work of it is an understatement. They seemed very surprised I was doing it on a 98 Pan.
We still are!

Isn't that kind of trip what the Pan-European was designed for...

But journalists only like bikes that the manufacturer is paying them to endorse, anything else is crazy to own in their opinion.

Journalists job is to describe an image that is visualised in the advertising that pays their wages.  Once it is understood, that there is no requirement for the truth to be told, then all these glossy mags can be seen as just so much hyperbole.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.
