That transalp is a bonny bike, I've always fancied one but never owned or even ridden one.

Tis a great example of the 650 Alp tribe - just shy of 75k miles, 70k by the current (2nd) owner  :thumb:.

Had a shot of it as its owner tried out my NC - he'll not be swapping the Alp anytime soon  :icon_wink:

I've had two trannies - fabulous bikes and surprisingly brisk down a bumpy, gravelly lane. I may have another at some point  :thumb:

I woke up in my tent Sunday and wondered if I had connected the fuel sender when I put the tank back on...
at 7am in the middle of the site I had the bike in bits to reconnect the fuel sender.  :dl_smiley_banghead:

I took a couple of videos over the weekend - just need some time to edit them and get them uploaded.

Out on the VX800: Just a little bimble to Diss to meet a friend and then off to Krazy Horse in Bury St Edmunds. Looked at bikes I  can't afford or ride.  Upstairs there's a nice cafe so the trip wasn't a complete waste of time and the ride there and back was in bright sunshine. The VX ran perfectly for the 165 mile trip which was heartening after all the fuel troubles I've had with it. Some older riders gathered around it with none of them having seen one before. "No it's not a Harley" .... I was feeling quite smug with my 32 year bike until a 1951 Sunbeam S7/S8 turned up.

Keep up with the smugness. Your final drive is way better than the Sunbeam's.

Someone somewhere mentioned a place in a glen located just north of Loch Ness that I hadn’t visited . . . so today I went and did exactly that.

Got a bit “lost” and ended up in the wrong glen. A little dirt was ridden over there & back again  :auto-dirtbike:. Nice view point just west of Tomich

Found my way along Glen Cannick, a nice short dead end with views coming at you from every angle.

All in all a great day for a meandering ride out into the hills & glens

NC750X:- fitted 40mm lowering bones from Lust Racing and dropped the yokes by 20mm. Feels great but now I need to remove  20 to 30mm from the side stand. I can get it up on the centre stand by running the back wheel onto a plank. No probs out on the road as I only use the centre stand in the garage for chain adjustment and lube. Side stand as it is wil be fine if I can drop it into a gutter and rely on the camber to put a tilt on the bike, but sod's law will demand a more permanent fix. First I will test ride the bike to make sure I am happy with the "lowering" and check that nothing scrapes the deck as I apply grandfatherly lean angles. :icon_wink:

If I recall correctly Dave (Brockett the Rocket), the SV didn't seem to have much problem...  :icon_wink: :auto-dirtbike:

Quite right Josh. I remember following Dave on the SV on one trip in Wales when someone picked the pace up, down went his head, up came his arse and he took the next corner like Marc Márquez....OK his elbow wasn't down but he was testing the grip!!  :auto-dirtbike:

Who could possibly forget the low flying TMaxBurgmannutterbastard exploits?
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Ah! yes the Stromburger with heated seat and a just like a frig a light came on when the seat was lifted. Tail end Charlie on a Strom ride out to Tan Hill. That was a great ride.

First 2022 run out to Gairloch
« Reply #2575 on: April 29, 2022, 22:52:27 »
Tomorrows weather forecast is for wet, so today, being dry, was a day for ride out to Gairloch.
Did the loop in a anti-clockwise direction for a change

A little under 270 miles with just a few rain drops hitting my visor the whole ride = BLISS

Today I managed to walk in to the garage (holding on to the Zimmer frame) and run up both the KTM & The B-king 😀 it was a great feeling , the v-Strom & The Triumph are in storage at work so they will have to wait some time.

NC750: A ride to test the lowered suspension showed the handling to be very nice and IMHO better than standard however,  the extender I fitted to the front mudguard is just brushing the front of the engine cover on normal braking. I have raised the front so that there is now only an 10mm drop on the yokes to see if that will give me the clearance. I will have to ride it to re-test the handling and if is OK then I'll leave the extender on. If the handling is worse (slow) then I'll remove the extender and try again. I have also tackled the problem with the side stand now being too long. I cut a 10mm section out of the stand where it is straight, inserted a piece of steel tube and an an old bolt and welded the two sections back together. I was going to cut off the foot and the peg but the compond angles were going to be difficult to reproduce so I opted to chop a section from the middle Hmmm!  No I think I should have gone for option one as a weld failure would still have provided a stout leg to support the bike.  oh! well if it all fals down I'll know what the problem is.

A bit of a bimble around the North Pennines with some traitors today. I was blessed with wonderful weather and passable company.

Epic stuff again and great company, many thanks TL and all.

Bit of a freak incident on the way back for me as the bonnet of the car in front blew open as it started an overtake and folded back over its windscreen.
The soundproofing liner ripped off and nearly hit me at the same time as the driver was doing an emergency stop
Anyway everybody managed to miss each other but a bit of squeaky bum moment.
