Taken a box (a light one) into garage and looked at the lovely machine languishing there  :icon_no:

One week exactly after hernia operation and though I feel damn good I KNOW I won't be swinging a leg over the Wee for a little bit yet... no way I would a risk a 'dab' never mind lifting the effin thing onto the center-stand (does it really have to be that hard?).

All good things to those that wait

Maybe next week I can try taking some bits from box and putting on bike at least  :fix:

Follow medical advice and don't rush it. One rash move could set you back. But best wishes for a speedy and full recovery.

No riding today, my back is not happy the ironing board comfort of the SV's seat and the lowish bars. I think I'll look into higher bars. May be possible if I can get longer clutch cable and lengthen the wiring.

Strom clutch cable?
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Good starting point  :thumb: I would like to add to wiring without butchery so it can be returned to original. When I get home I will pull it apart and see what can be done.

15mm looks the best to keep stock cables ect. :thumb:

If you go that high the rake will be way out and will upset the cornering. :thumb:

Yesterday I received my box of toys from Tec Bike Parts.
Today on the T120: I fitted the dual rate fork springs and the pre-load / height adjusters and then the new rear suspension units. Then I started on the exhaust and it all stripped out quite well until it came to removing the "cat". To get it out I have to loosen  the top left frame rail bolt and remove the two lower bolts and this allows the frame to inched apart enough to drop the "cat" out. Ahhhh! but then there's the engine mounting bolt which turns out to not have a hex head nor is it a big old Allan bolt. No its a "Torx"  :dl_smiley_banghead: and bigger than any I have. Job stopped until I can get one. Oh! yes and it's a T55 which I have been told is not very or even slightly common.   :bawl: No photos until the job is finished.

Just fitted an ebay bargain.
CBF1000 screen (MRA Vario 06-10)
Had a Palmer screen mount for a few years, but still got some buffeting with stock screen + mount. Givi tinted screen the bike came with was way too big with the mount and I never got on with it being tinted.
The ebay screen came with an old style palmer mount, used the cross bar to mount my GPS above the clocks.
Test ride later.
(Yes I put the V-Strom.co.uk sticker on)

T120: I finished installing the Tec Bike toys this afternoon after I bought a T55 Torx tool in a local shop.

new rear shocks, new fork springs and adjusters and a two into one  exhaust system. The latter to save weight and not for the making of more noise, although it does make a different noise and it really does have a bit more punch.

The new front springs have eliminated the T120's habit of diving for cover under braking and feel a bit less harsh over the A120's much neglected road lumps. The rear units feel a bit hard but they warn that they need some bedding in miles after which the springs soften a little.
It looks a bit bare on the left hand side now the silencer has gone.
And this is how it looks:-

Very nice. You'll notice the pipes will progressively turn a lovely bronze colour as the heat gets to them  :thumb:

Another busy afternoon in the garage with the Varadero.
Pannier frames, topbox rack and engine bars off to wire brush and paint.

Then set about stripping off the swing arm and greasing the bearing and linkages.

Everything was OK, but quite manky. Did need doing.

All back together in time for tea.

Tomorrow - cleaning and painting.

The previous owner let it go with the bike, I was told what it meant and kept it.
