Tank bag options
« on: March 04, 2016, 18:41:35 »
I have done a search and I saw a post from early 2015 (advised to start new thread).

I certainly need a tank bag and am looking at options.  Always been a fan of Bagster  (sold 1250 bandit cover and bag last week).

They used to have a UK office in Wales, but they have vanished and seem to have agents scattered around.  I saw that some have a bagster tank cover but this 1000 perhaps does not suit a bagster.

From the research I have done it seems the Suzuki one is in fact same as the SW Motech one but re badged. Am I correct please ?  I can get 10% off the Suzuki one which makes it a bit more reasonable, BUT still need to buy fixing kits and so on.  Please advise, is this quality kit ?  I see Givi also does something similar, but is it similar price to Suzuki ?

Any comments please from you folks who have done the purchase and how you find it.  I have till May when I am 'Alping' it  :lala: but with the small Suzuki panniers it is a must for me

I have the givi tank lock bag. Its the adventure one but can't remember the exact model number.  Works great, and yes you need the tank locking ring, that's extra. Only thing is its a bit small, 20ltr I think. I have another givi bag that has a flater base I used on my fz1 and it holds more. So good product but small ish but at least with givi you can transfer till your next bike with a new fitting kit.

+1 for the givi tanklock system. Mine is the XS308 20 ltr. Amazon price including the tank lock fitting was just £122.  very pleased.

I also use Givi Tanklock system.

I have X307.  Best price I could find was Motocard

https://www.motocard.com/en/bags/givi-xs307_tanklock.aspx

You also need the tank adapter ring, which was only about £9 extra.  I think it was BF18

I also have the xs307, just the right size.

I've been asked why I have 3 bikes, well that's because I'm not allowed any more.

Thank you for the input, Givi it is !

The Suzuki one is at £125.00, then TWO fixing kits at £27.00 each.  Around £175, then with 15% voucher off still around the £150.00 mark.  The Givi is similar and with good reviews and bigger, about £50 cheaper.  Thanks for input folks ! :lala:

Very nice simmo,  but I need a bit more carrying ability due to 'tours' hence I went for a larger one, but impressed with the Givi as a whole. It was interesting that the web site you mention work out a tenner cheaper than one found on flea bay, (M & P) but you pay for p&p on orders under £150. M&P was free delivery so about the same I guess :)  I see you are just down the road from me in sunny Devon !

I recently got one of the 15L xs307's too. Great bit of kit! mine was about £100 from J and S but that included the locking ring too (and I didn't look around for a better price).

Initially only went out for one of the tiny 4L ones as somewhere to put my glasses, phone, wallet keys etc when out on the bike but ended up with the 15L one, I would have gone for a bigger one but I really do not like them touching my bars at full lock, the 15L one was a perfect fit, sits about 2mm away from my switchgear on full lock haha.

I did a tour across the Pyrenees last year and the bag worked out fine for me. Kept my Wallet/phone/camera/passport/loose change/sunglasses in it. There's more room than you think. Yes I'm down in Exeter.
