Just ordered a new vstrom 1000
« on: February 14, 2016, 14:50:24 »
Well I've done it. I've just ordered a new 2016 vstrom 1000. Got to wait till the end of march before I can have it. Due to Suzuki uk not having any in stock in the matt grey metallic. Really looking forward to picking it up.

The dealer did tell me he could probably find one at another dealers. But I think the same as him in the respect that it's better to have one straight out the crate. I think it'll drag on till the end of march.

hello shane, just in case you did not get my last message, the crux of it was, I had to go in and see the head salesman at westgate road in newcastle, he told me that my order was not showing live on the system so he rang the girl at Suzuki GB to ask why, she told him there had been a fault on the system but it was sorted out when he asked for a time scale for the bikes arrival she said it was going to be sooner than originally thought and I was told mid march when I ordered the bike. so keep your fingers crossed matey.

Over 59,000 minutes!!!! That's made me feel a whole lot better (not). I've just order my accessories for it. At that rate they'll be here well before the bike.

It is becoming a joke with the waiting times on these bikes.

I had a test ride on the 1000 at the end of February. Nearly bought one but one thing that put me off was the dealer saying they couldn't get one until April. Even then he couldn't say if it would be the begining or end of April.
Apparently Suzuki says there's too many unsold bikes in Europe & they need to be sold before they'll bring anymore in. Trouble is the ones that are here, are the ones that don't sell very well (250's etc). If that's the case, then its totally bonkers!
So I went to the Yamaha dealer & had a test ride on a Tracer. I liked it, & the dealer had any colour I wanted in stock. So I bought one & picked it up a week later.
Come on Suzuki, get yourself sorted out or you'll lose even more sales!!!

That's odd. If there's too many unsold in Europe you'd think they'd simply divert some of the unregistered ones to the UK? (Unless they're the wrong colour, but then they could always offer some money off)

The UK is part of Europe (at the moment!).
The bikes that are in europe at the moment are the ones that don't sell. There aren't any DL1000's in Europe (or the UK).
that's what the dealer said

And I need to learn to read...

If I were waiting that long I'd probably start looking elsewhere too...

Yeah I did look on ebay.
A few dealers have a new DL1000, note-ably Cupars. But I was looking to trade my DL650 in & Cupar are about 400 miles from me!
Others are not Suzuki franchises & the bikes are european imports. With the ecu problems & re-calls, I didn't want to buy one of those.
Most other dealers are waiting for DL1000's from Suzuki.

Well, if Suzuki are unable to sell you a bike, there are other manufacturers who can.
I can't believe I am actually typing that in 2016!
