I'm down to 3 mm in places  on the rear stock tyre after only 5300 miles, debating wether to get some new rubber before my upcoming tour .
I must be doing something wrong!

No that sounds about right .  I got 6000 from my rear and it was right to the wear bar. As I'm a cheap skate I put a a40 on the rear and kept the original front, it'll do a few thousand miles yet (a40 front in the garage).  Matches fine with the oe rubber

Wish I was getting that much out of my tyres.  :bawl:

On my 3rd rear and second front at the moment, bike has just under 9000 miles. Currently running Pilot Trails.

Got a few hundread or so miles out of the A40s , quite impressed with their handling, seem to be a good alround do it all tyre. I don't ride many motorway miles, mainly twisties, probably why I'm getting higher miles per tyre. I'm doing a weekend dash to the Black Forest which is going to be a 500 mile day ride that will be the test for squaring off!

The a40's where a great price when I got them, 180 a pair fitted. that's good for Ulster.
I know you can't compare old till new but I had Pir Scorpion mark ones on my tiger 800 and they where wick so I was put of the two's
You can't really go wrong whatever you buy,  and even if  you do sure they soon wear out!

Not so. The original tyres were very good in the estimation of many of us.
But enjoy your new ones ????

Yep, just got back from a tour of Scotland, 2000 miles, and the rear is looking decidedly illegal.  So that's just over 6000 miles with two long tours, the front still has a bit of life left in it though. Now it would be nice to have a reason not to replace with the Battle wings again, but it seems no one has yet done enough miles on any other make to see if they are longer lasting. That would be the only thing I might change for as I really liked the grip & confidence the BW's gave me.
That rear tyre did start squaring off quite early though .............

Been v pleased with the scorpion 2s,they seem a much more sophisticated tyre all together over the stock ones,
It was immediately apparent they where  untroubled by chopped up tarmac or otherwise crappy surfaces.
As with most tyres I will never find the limit of dry handling , wet handling v good no misbehaviour or traction control intervention on a particularly wet crossing of the snake pass.
On tour in the outer Hebrides they coped admirably with loose covered single track roads including hard stops for suicidal lambs!!
Motorway work showed less of a tendency to tram line on joints ,linear features etc. After 2500 miles they would appear to be wearing much better than stock with v limited squaring off which I guess  is down to the dual compound jiggery pokery.
So yes over all  I am very pleased with these rubber circles!
