I'd check somewhere else if I had to pay that much  :dl_smiley_banghead:

I only pay £220, that's for a 30 year old male with 5 years no claims, pay monthly. On a bike insured for £6k for unlimited mileage.

I've been with MCE from day one apart from a week of arguing with Bikesure and telling them to stick their super small print clauses up their a###.
So I may get some sort of discount?

I think you should look somewhere else.
I have another bike with Carole Nash and the policy was half the cost from anyone else... but they like dual sport bikes where most insurers rob you.

It was £300ish for my Strom when I first got it (30, 2 years experience, 2 yrs NCB, fully comp) but that was before I stacked it into a lorry at 50mph ^^

Try liverpool Victoria, they have recently started doing bike insurance as well as all the other types. I've got my Ford Focus insured with them 2010 1.6 , fully comp £280 with no NCB as I've just returned from France, also just had a quote for the Dragstar, again hardly any NCB (1 year) £58 fully comp , but then I suppose I am an old git (57)

As heard on radio 4 this week an industry expert says the average motorist has seen an increase of £100 on their premiums over the last twelve months. An insurance industry spokesperson said "personal accident judgements have resulted in higher cost settlements".
It seems that younger and older drivers, are involved in incidents with more serious collateral damage than previously.
I take this as an indication that inexperienced youth and 'the elderly' cannot control the power of relatively inexpensive modern motorcars.
I fully expect bike insurance to follow the upward trend. This is especially so as the insurance providers are locked into groups  and competition is reduced.
That said LV recently insured my Honda Jazz £150 cheaper than my previous company quoted. If they are now insuring bikes I may give them a call when the bikes are due.
