I fitted some to mine. I used one of bigpies auxiliary fuse boxes and a handlebar switch I got off eBay. Seems to work OK. I fitted the lamps to the crash bars.

I fitted the cree ones, clamped to the outside of my crash bars. Ran the wires under the tank and the wires from the switch, joined them to more wire, inline fuse and connector blocks.
There is a thread on here somewhere on how to do it

Hello I've just fitted two kinds of "ebay" led lights the 10w front lights and the cree style on the crashbar the build quality is "OK" but the wire is something less to be desired its so thin but if it works it works the cree lights have a built in mode that goes from low / high or flashing which changes every time you turn them on off I wanted full all the time (on a switch) so I opened them up and just took my pliers out and ripped off the chip that sits on U2 on the board inside then the light will just always start on full power :)

I find with mine they stay on the same setting, high.
I have tried them on strobe when filtering but have been told it is illegal by the police, although a very good idea, as the 2 coppers I spoke to were both bikers

The wires only need to be thin as they don't draw much power.
A lot of LED lamps are like this

One of my cheap ebay spotlights has given up today. I'll have to investigate.

I'll be interested to hear what you find bigpie. I've got a set to fit myself. I may have to look at alternatives.

For Info.
I did fit some of these lights to my GS, same settings, low, high or flash. The only thing that happened was the front seal "didn't", hence a little bit of water got in. The plastic chrome also peeled off, other than that they worked.
However, I suspect water ingress would finish them off.

Until quite recently it was the same for cyclists but flashing lamps on cycles became so universally used, generally instead of no lights at all, that for once common sense took precedent and the lighting Regs were changed.
So motorcyclists could try and do the same but, unlike cyclists where Police are quite reluctant to stick them on, bikers are fair game in the bean counting world of Policing where if the Wicked Witch of Whitehall got her way pay would be performance related just like council traffic wardens so the more tickets issued the better holidays your kids get!
However in MCN recently their legal chap, Andrew Dalton (?), did advise to a similar question that he thought the BikeVis type 'twinkling' lamps would probably not count as a flashing lamp and it would be a very bored Copper who would try and make a case out of it.

I have put steady green 10w. drl's on my KLV1000. See my posts in the thread linked below...

http://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=28392.0

I also had problems with the cheap spotlights. They would end up with one strobing and the other out of phase on dim or high. I removed the chip and that worked fine.

After a couple of months of wet weather, the chrome rims are corroding badly. I took them of, cleaned them and painted them with POR15 black. Now I have to reassemble and re-install. I'll probably use plenty of grease on the threads to keep the corrosion at bay and water out.

A bike copper told me I "would be pulled" if I had flashing lights on the bike  :violence-smack:

But what if the flashing light was on me?
Should have asked that, as technically it is not on the bike

I fitted a pair of these lights but thought I'd be clever (no laughing at the back...) and pull the "U2" chip off before even trying them. Hello presto, they are crap. They are dim and flickery. On closer examination the circuit board is not identical to the picture bigpie posted previously. Doh! Whatever chip I ripped off has screwed the lights good and proper. You live and learn...

They're crap anyway. Haven't had chance to look at mine that has packed up yet.

Finally got round to fitting them.

Wired them through a switch on the bars and through my relay fuse box. If I cycle the switch it will trigger the modes to change, but if I leave them off for more than 5 mins they will reset to default (full power).

I will need to play with the angle when it's dark, but so far so good.

I had some 'cheapish' eBay spots. Also wired into Bigpie's aux fuse box.
Wiring in was a doddle. Lights were (about) £35. However .... when I switched them on.... OFF went the heated grips!!! Replaced with BikeVis spots, MUCH better quality (OK 3 times price!!), but excellent build quality and they are LED's, super bright and they look great and are WORTH the extra money.

The cheapo fleabay lamps were in horrible ali housing..... tightened up brackets once, by hand.... stripped threads!!!

That was inside the broken one, cleaned all the crap away and it lights up again, but extremely weak.

Had you fit them as they came or did you add any sealant? That looks nasty!
