At last
« on: January 02, 2016, 22:50:26 »
Well after 36 years 8 months, I finally retired, early, from the Ambulance Service.

Was it the continual incompetence of successive governments? Incompetent management?  The ungrateful public? that finally pushed me.  No.

It was having dealt with the patient.  The relatives or the patient themselves had to help ME get up!!

I wish you a long and happy retirement.
I went at 62 and I have never been happier than now.
Don't think of it as early retirement. For me it was like an escape from a "prison of work".

So..... I was in A&E following RTA and the surgeon asked me my age and occupation. When I told him he sneered a little saying I was "lucky to be able to retire so early".

"Hang on pal ....  I clocked on, in a factory, on my fifteenth birthday and worked for 47 years. I bet you didn't start doing any paid work until you were twenty something. So less of the retired early stuff. "  Wonderful effect some pain killers have.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

Ahh. Forgot to mention the knackered knee, too.  Having lots of discomfort when riding "long distances" (15 miles +).  Looking around for something more comfortable.

Whatever I get, I shall ride and enjoy.  Thanks for good wishes.

I can highly recommend the Burgman 400! Just done a thousand mile round trip over Crimbo in great comfort and at the same speeds as my old Vee, I.e. 70 plus on the motorway, 200 miles to a full tank (13 litres) great storage and did I mention the comfort?
Seriously, an old injury forced me off normal bikes and rather than quit I went for the Burgman. If you want more power the 650 is the one to go for but both are great.

There are a couple of chaps at work who swear by their Burgman bikes for comfort and reliability.  I am only 42 and tempted lol

To be honest, I find myself considering the C1500T.  Sat on one at the bike show, it was (for me) the most comfortable cruiser of them all.  Well, there was the Indian Roadmaster.................
