Reminder, hi-viz vests.......
« on: December 30, 2015, 09:09:03 »
..... are required to be carried by all motorcyclists as from Jan. 1st 2016 in France.

It's the same rule as for all other vehicles and meant to be put on if you're broken down at the roadside. Fine for not carrying one is 11€. Failure to wear one carries a 135€ fine at what the French call an "arret d'urgence".

Yes, I know it's in French so:

So how's it going so far then?

Why not? Everyone everywhere wears a high viz these days.

But thanks for the heads-up

We must be close to reaching the tipping point where hi viz is so widespread that it becomes camouflage.

I did type "h I" but the auto language correct changed it to "hello". Still, brightens up a dull day.........

When I started riding motorbikes helmets weren't obligatory. Just how much more nanny state interference do we have to put up with before we revolt?  ### :icon_exclaim: :angry-banghead: etc

To be fair, I usually ride with a high viz jacket and I can see the sense in wearing one at a breakdown - but making it all law is probably (in France's case) more likely a cash generating exercise.

(I'm revolting already.)

Reminds me of MAG's "Helmets yes, compulsion no" slogans before (and after) 1973. Dozens of my friends and hundreds of acquaintances would never ever wear even a scrap of high-vis gear, but very few would write to their MP, attend a demo or a rally to protest - until it's too late. If it wasn't for MAG's internecine bickerings and dogged refusal to let the helmet thing go, I'd rejoin. As it is, we're probably sleepwalking into mandatory flouro/reflective everything. What will be the SMIDSY's excuse then, when it keeps on happening?
(Note to self.... pack vest in top box in June.)

Have to admit that as I'm not likely to visit France it's not high on my list of things to get.

A gang of 8 of us are going to Brittany in May.

Reckon we'll need shades to protect us from the dazzle

Only if you're all riding Beemers. No need to actually wear the thing unless you break down
