K2 DL1000 No O/D light
« on: December 28, 2015, 17:51:29 »
Took the bike for a run up the motorway today and noticed the O/D light didn't come on , didn't notice it light up on the turn of the ignition either.

would that be a blown bulb or has previous owner fitted a TRE (what ever that is) or could it be some other problem?

cheers

I would guess there's a TRE on there.

Does the OD light come on with the ignition check (or is it even supposed to) as that would tell you if the bulb works.

It's a surface mount LED, not a bulb. I've never heard of that being the problem. A TRE changes the resistance in the line to make the ECU "think" the bike is in 4th gear all the time, the only unrestricted gear. That will kill the O/D display as the ECU never "knows" the tranny is actually in 6th gear. Other changes in resistance such as the resistor in the gear position sensor for 6th falling out of range or a corroded connection in the wire from the sensor will also kill the O/D indicator.

1 it comes on when ignition is on
2 there is no TRE fitted
only noticed it in last few days

Sorry to bring back an old thread but I wanting to fit the GlPro gear indicator with Atre but as I'm not 100% sure my gear position sensor is working correctly as I have no OD light at all could someone point me in the right direction to locating the sensor.

Cheers

You have to remove the clutch basket to access the GP switch.
