Laroze,
my dealer in city of Faro has replaced all ECU's on the bikes that came in, no questions asked. If you don't live too far away and have no luck at your dealer, it may be worth the trip. One visit to explain your situation and then one more visit when new ECU arrives.
But it may be good to check the two last digits on your ECU first. The "good" version ends with "02". Mine had "00" and was replaced by "02".
The most important thing is, Suzuki Portugal knows about the problem and gives no hard time on replacing the ECU. I guess the problem you have is with your dealer.

Went for mine doing today and just my luck it was an even worse faulty J002 ECU made the bike horrible the service bloke said so old one back in and a few  ### words from five ways to Suzuki UK and another on order... Suppose it shows the new ones aren't perfect either.

Been having misfire and stalling issues, at first thought it was me, it became worst after the new loom was fitted during the recall, I asked this to be looked at during 7500mile service. Anyway they adjusted the throttle bodies and fitted new plugs but did not cure the issue. I returned to the dealer about a month later (I've been busy) and said that I was still having problems, the Service manager said straight away it needs a new ECU and was straight on to Suzuki. Just awaiting the call. Once again great service from Thunderroad in Bridgend.

since getting my 2015 v strom 1000. I have had a recall on it due to wiring problems, also had to have the abs pump replaced and now I think the ecu is going as I am getting stalling and spitting at low speeds, I'm having all sorts of issues with my dealer over these things, the wiring was sorted and the ecu pump, bike ran fine, for 2 days then the stalling problems, think I got the reject model when I bought this bike.

The abs pump is unfortunate climber, the wiring and ecu are common to these bikes, get the ecu done and yours will be good, I have total faith in my bikes reliability now, after getting these things done, and it has proven itself on two long trips away fully loaded, and ridden hard in adverse conditions.

One thing in my opinion, acf50 is our friend,  I lift the tank every six months or so and give the electrical conectors and switches all over the bike a little squirt, I do this on all my bikes and believe it has cut down on electrical faults over the last few years.

I've had more than one problem with my new v strom 1000, I have informed mcn on this and sending them reports on the issues and what is being done about it, I think more people should also contact mcn and they may do a write up on it to shame Suzuki into getting these things sorted for us, I'm a very unhappy customer

It sounds like your problem is more with your dealer, since Suzuki initiated the recall for the wiring and has been replacing ECUs as necessary (since not all bikes seem affected). I'm sure MCN will write a balanced article which reflects this, and not fabricate some exaggerated headline in order to sell more copies.

Yeah, the whole "contact Suzuki" thing from dealers is a bit of a red herring, because Suzuki (quite rightly) say take it to your dealer to get checked out. I just accept it as a stage you have to go through! :-)

RESULT after talking to Suzuki uk, customer service executive natalie, whom was very very helpful, I have just been informed by the dealer that a new ecu has been agreed to be fitted, took myself to arrange all of this, no help from the dealer at all,  one call from Suzuki to dealer sorted it for me.

Good to hear you and the other fella got sorted.
In my case my dealer was poor so I wrote to Suzuki myself and complained.
Even after changing my ecu my dealer was still telling other owners they'd never heard of ecu troubles!

I do hope this becomes a recall as if you have any doubts about your ECU get onto it before the warranty runs out as Suzuki GB will turn down any claim afterwards.
Do it today as there may not be a tomorrow.
