« on: August 22, 2015, 08:42:06 »
Hi
I'm looking at getting a sheepskin cover for my DL1000 seat, has anyone tried these out and if so did it stop the numb bum. Has anyone got a contact to get one ???? :text-imnewhere:

Lambland.co.uk sell them about £18quid. I use them. They are very comfortable . You need to find an easy way to attach it to your bike. Not really nice when they are wet though. So put it away when you aren't sitting on it. You can just buy a rug from anywhere and cut it to suit. :auto-dirtbike:

Try searching Sheep in the search box........  :stirpot:

The ensuing discussion should be perfectly timed for next weeks get together in Wales!  :eusa-whistle:

Mine works for me too but as Ali P says, it's a pain to get dry after a soaking.

Think it came from lambland originally but I got it from Bencav when I bought his Tall Touring seat off him.

...from the website

Genuine Sheepskin Motorcycle Seat Pad

Material: Genuine Sheepskin

Features: A luxurious 100% Sheepskin Pad, ideal for when a bit of extra padding would help. Use as a seat pad, for Chairs, Stools, Wheelchairs and Motorcycles, May contain slight stitching on back of skins ????

Could somebody tell me what constitutes 'slight' stitching? - isn't that like getting 'slightly' pregnant?

Size: Approx 50 cm x 25 cm.

Special Notes: Colour available Please be aware There may be some dye running with the Black when wet*
...

...mmm - black dye running when wet... lots of multicoloured arse marks on the furniture then...

Apart from that - it looks like a pretty neat idea :)

I have 2 from Lambland.
One for me and one for SWMBO.
the vee seat was good for 200 miles for me the sheep skin turned it into a 300 mile a day seat.

They do raise the seat height quite a bit.

Mine gets a brushing with a boot polishing brush (never used with polish) everytime it goes on the bike.

I find them to be very comfortable and always throw it on the seat when I'm doing a longish ride.

Nearly lost it on the Severn bridge once when I stood on the rests for a better view and the wind took it  :)

Thanks everyone. you've convinced me to give it a go and at only £18 it's got to be worth a try.

I sewed on a length of half inch webbing with length adjuster to stop it blowing off.

As mr diver points out, they can raise you up 20-30 mm. Be careful when putting your foot down on unlevel ground for the first few times! Other than that, granny pads are effective if street cred is of lesser importance to you than comfort  :) Airhawk make a commercial ones that inflate to the required thickness. For a less obvious look you can remove seat staples, add foam and re-cover.
